My first grow, Just have a few qustions.
    #18432201 - 06/17/13 02:20 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Hello, Im new here but I have been lurking for some time now.

Anyway I while ago I started my first grow using B+ as I read somewhere it was good for beginners and yesterday I put four full cakes into my terrarium.

Now the first thing is some of my jar didn't grow at all? What could have caused this?

The jars that did grow took there sweet time (about 4 weeks I would say) but I had them in the recommended Temperature...

Now that there in the terrarium how long until I start to see mushroom bodys/pin heads?

Also I know that at this time in the grow the mycelium needs light. But i don't have anyway I can put them in sunlight (i'm trying to be discreet) I read some where you can use fluorescent light, Would a simple CFL do?

Thanks in advance! :mushroom2:

could have been many factors like forgetting to shake the syringe or jar prep:shrug:

they will do fine in the dark but anywhere on a shelf getting ambient lighting is fine,
for fruiting direct/intense lighting but a window with daylight is just fine

I suggest going over your techniques and seeing if you missed any steps. What is your humidity, temperature? Did you allow a consolidation period? What brown rice flour did you use? Is there any chemicals in the brown rice flour(Non-Organic)? Fresh Air Exchange? Enough? Please ask yourself questions!

Could take up to a month for your jars to fully colonize.  After that, maybe a week or so before pins.  There are lots of factors to manage to achieve that, as I am sure you have read.  A to spec SGFC would be your cheapest/best bet for a good harvest.
