I dont know shit but im on craigslist trying to score a set, if you have any tidbits of knowledge no matter how simple or masterful share them.
Like what brands are sick(I know brand name isnt everything thts very childish but bear with me) features to look for \ questions to ask etc.. already got some responses back on some good looking deals might be in for a nice set around the 200$ range which is just a fraction of what some of these sets they claim are worth.
thanks

200$ isn't much for golf clubs, especially if its a full set. My irons costed me 700 alone.
All your questions pretty much depend on how long you've been playing golf, what skill level you are, what are your goals, and what is your price range. You didn't really give us enough info.
Personally, I really like Callaway Irons. My dad likes Titlest and My gramps likes taylormade its all about preferences. My advice would be to go to a golf store, preferably one that is strictly for golf, and ask to try out a few clubs. Just act like you are going to buy some and they will give you know problems at all and you can try out any club you want.
Basically you can only have 14 clubs. My setup is; Putter, Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, Irons 4-9, PW, AW(52 degree), SW(56 degree or 58 degree) LW (60 degree) 3 Hybrid but thats kinda all preference too. All you really need are a putter, 3 wedges, 2 woods and irons 5 through 9 until you get more into golf. Basically there is a lot of discussion into how many wedges/irons/woods you really need and ultimate it comes down to your own personal game and you are just going to have to feel that out.

Don't your clubs need to be "fitted" to your body size?

Eh not really. You can get longer clubs if you are really tall or want to cheat to stroke your ego. The PGA regulates all that shit and im not a huge guy so my only experience with longer clubs is 50' drivers which are illegal but boy can you drill those fuckers.
The big thing with irons is you are going to want to decide what kind of a shaft you want. Fiberglass or Iron. I like Iron myself but some guys think fiberglass are easier to swing and they are a little more forgiving. There are a few more things like that with irons (blades, cavities) but you could ask some one who knows more about it. I would advise against getting Blade irons they are really unforgiving and are typically only used by good-elite players.
With your driver you are probably going to want a 10.5 regular, maybe even loose shaft if you have a really slow swing. As you get better you will change all that. I use a 9.5 Stiff shaft Callaway. Tiger uses a 6 degree XStiff Titilest i belive

I've only played a few times. It was fun but mostly because of the company I was with. I don't really have the time or inclination to do it much. What's your handicap?

We have had this talk before. I haven't played seriously since last summer so i dont really have a handicap. i used to shot 85-90 when i was on top of my game though. Not good but not that bad either. I think im going to go golfing tomorrow since im all pumped on the US Open
You should play more Zappa, it really is a great game.

I would jump on that. Sounds like a good beginner set, and at 180 you wont feel to bad if you sky a drive and scuff the top of your pretty new driver
But ya Drivers and woods haven't been steel shafts in a long time. My dad has a set from the early 70s and the driver is a 7 degree face, steel shaft. I dont know how manny cc's but it isnt much bigger than a 5 wood. Compare that to todays drivers and it will blow your mind. He also has a One iron like wtf who uses a one iron? ben hogan in 1902
The joke with that club is its the safest in the bag because even god cant hit a one iron.
