Second motorcycle lesson today, nearly died!

Well maybe not quite so dramatic, did almost crash though.
Second lesson > first time on public roads. Got on the bike to leave the drive school and was all like 'yeah I know how this goes'.
Pull on he throttle and the thing just takes off across the road and nearly into the cars parked there.
Ego thoroughly beaten the rest of the class was great. Did 80km/h for the first time driving myself, couldn't believe the wind.
Still such a motorcycle pussy

Lol, shit. That sounded sketchy for a second there. Good thing you are taking the lessons for sure. What bike do you have?

The bike is owned by the drive school, its a Honda CBF 600 NA.
One of these:

I am also shopping for gear! The good stuff is crazy expensive. The better it looks the more expensive it gets

Are u taking the msf course? Ive taken it, great experience and good knowledge. Good gear is easential. I spent about $1000 on all of mine, but it all still works great after 3 years.
Also visit the motorcycle safety forums. Tins of good articles including crash reports and leasons shared by other cyclists. Learn from their experiences and ull be way better off.

The MSF course is an American thing, but I'm taking a standard Ontario motorcycle safety course.

The aim is to be gentle and smooth with the controls. Also ride with your throttle hands grip with your knuckles back, this way you can't wind up and crank the throttle as much as when your knuckles are put forward. Also, it's very important to relax your arms ad not death grip the handlebars, cos that tension transfers through to the wheels and impedes your handling. You need to be gentle an fluid on the bike

There is a whole system:
People under 20 can only drive 125 CC bikes, they can progress to 35 KW bikes after two years, another two years enables them to go to the unlimited license.
People 24 and over can get the big license immediately.
Getting a license here is a real hassle involving two practical and one theoretical exams. The average person need about 25 lessons to be able to complete the practical exams.
The Honda CBF 600 is considered a beginners or women's bike. I think its really cool though

Damn, your state has some strict laws.
I've been riding a 1000cc Ducati since I was 17.

That is a big bike to start on! Be careful.
Have you dropped it at all?
I dropped my bike once when i started and i was by myself, and was barely strong enough to pick it back up.
Then i went road tripping and ended up dropping it a couple times, once infront of a big group of tourists.

I actually started out on a 400cc Honda Shadow, but after riding that for a year I wanted something bigger so I got a 1000cc bike.
Haha and oh yeah, I've dropped it and it was a bitch and a half to get back up.
What made it worse is that since it's a Ducati there's not a lot of steel, so there's not a lot of firm places to grab onto and lift up.

Haven't dropped it yet. I think I will be able to put it back up if that happens.
It hasn't stalled on me either, something that happened all the time when I was learning to drive a car (stick).

I love the Netherlands for riding bicycles. When I was in Utrecht riding a bike, it scared the SHIT outta me that people are allowed to ride motorized bikes on the bike lane. Fuckin' crazy. Also, Dutch gangsters are funny.
