Im looking for a good subtstrate for bulk growing in a monotub tek... 106qt all clear plastic tub with colonized organic rye berries. I currently have 10 large bags of vermiculite, 25 bricks of coir and 5 big blocks of peat moss and a huge bag of agricultural lime. i am ready to go i just need a recommended substrate mixture.

106 qt could be anysize shape and form so it's hard to say, dump qt's of water in one at a time keeping count till you hit 4 inches, then divide the number of qt's it took to your desired ratio

Could i do a simple 50/50 mix of vermiculite and coir and expect a good harvest?

IMO poo is the shit if you are growing a dung loving species. My grows are usually 50% poo mixed with one or more of the following; verm, coir, straw. Most of the time I use bagged cow manure from a garden center, because I don't much access to hpoo around here.

OK. Here we go. I have a substrate calculator website for you. Go to it. Your ratio should be 4 to 1. Input your info and it will give you a precise equation.
http://substratecalculator.info/#
Secondly- We DON'T use agricultural lime. That's for long term ph. Use PICKLING LIME. That's for quick, short term ph. Here's RR's take on that.
" What you want is a short term (Hydrated Lime) because the life of a casing is measured in weeks instead of months or years. Use hydrated lime to get the ph right at the start, and use gypsum at a rate of ten percent to the peat in your casing to prevent ph swings later. Pickling lime is hydrated lime. It's my favorite, and many commercial grow operations DO use it. Don't use limestone; limestone is for long- term use, such as in a garden. Casings, which flush for a month or so, do not need long-term ph adjustment. They need short term, therefore hydrated lime is what you would want to use."
Hope this helps.

And a recommended substrate? I use manure, coco-coir and verm. Add coffee grounds and gypsum. The calculator will help you alot.

My simple coir/verm prep. (Tko, ya beat me to it!)
I never bother with exact measurements.
One brick coir, two quarts verm, handful of gypsum, 5 quarts water
A substrate calculator is such a waste of time.
My recipe should provide plenty to hit the 3-4" mark when spawned to in your tub.

I buy my coir 90 bricks at a time, my verm in 4 cubic foot bags. The lime and peat though, I don't often use them.

Not everybody has hours and hours of experience such as yourself Frank. Waste of time? I think it's a waste of time when you have grows going and something goes wrong because you didn't take the time to do it right. What if RR or Roadkill just threw some shit together and said- yeah, that's cool. Too much water, not enough spawn, etc.etc....that's how people get fucked up grows. How about letting dude decide if he needs a sub calculator? Talk about EGO...

Trichoderma? Added? Why in hell would they add TRICH to coco-coir? SURE, let's ADD green mold to a inert material....doofus.

They add trich spores because trich is beneficial to plants.
It's usually listed as an additive on the packaging if it is present, it's desirable for some uses (like plants).
And for the record I've not once used a substrate calculator, even for my first monotub years ago.
If it takes "hours and hours of experience" to follow a simple "add brick, add verm, add water, add gypsum" recipe then you are overthinking this pretty hard
Too wet? Add more verm. Too dry? More water.
This is all broken down in simple instructions in my link I gave to the OP above.

Mushrooms are not plants. Not once have I bought a brick of coir and seen trich listed on the label. The only ingredient I've seen in coco-coir is COCONUT FIBER... Also, with pastuerization doesn't that kill the trich anyway?
