Looks like it to me. Jars also look really saturated. How did you prep this?

You've got cobweb mold and trich in the same jars. Toss the jars. If you dump them in your house a cloud of trich spores will be let out. Re-evaluate your sterile procedure and give it another try

I have a make shift lid due to not having the right materials(Tyvek, RTV Silicone) to make the proper lids. I have made proper lids now, and have a PC. You think could of been the problem? They were held in a sterile environment.

I used Frank's tek. They weren't wet when i put them in the jar, but i think the make shift lids fucked it up and got them more saturated when they went into the PC. they looked very saturated to me.

The easist way would be to toss the entire jar in the trash. If you can't waste a dollar each jar then pour it into a trashbag outside and wash the jar out with a hose before going back inside and then wash the jar again in your sink with soap and water.

You didn't PC the jars? I'd say that would be the main culprit. But also if the jar lids let excess moisture in, that probably helped. I'd take the jars and throw them in dumpster. If you really needed to keep the jars, pc them, take them outside then open em up... fill them with bleach water before going back inside with them... then stick em in the dishwasher.

Im just gonna go ahead and get new jars. It was mainly just a test run to see if the WBS would support the myce. And i knew there might be a high risk of contams the way i did it, due all the circumstances..
Well im guessing that if my WBS supported the contams it should support myce right?

I use the cheapest WBS walmart has to offer and it works just fine. Has cracked corn and sunflower seeds... people say it won't work with corn or sunflowers, but it does, just fine.
The seed in those jars looks like a good type too, similar to mine, just without the sunflower seeds lol.

Also, if you are strapped for cash, check craigslist for jars. last week I bought 5 dozen quarts off a lady for $20... Damn good deal.

Mine came with sunflower seeds, and doesn't list corn, but its definitely in there lol.
I think another reason i had contams was i cleaned the jars before i used them, but didn't PC them,
Should i pressure cook my jars and lids next time for sterilization? i feel that's pretty obvious.
But would I PC them with the lids off the jars, so the insides of the jars get PC'd them let them dry inside the PC? orrrr?
What would be the safest way to safely prepare a safe jar for WBS or BRF when it comes right out of the package? i cant find shit on this specific preparation step
And god damn 5 dozen for 20$, theyre normally 8$-15$ for 12

I'm confused, you don't need to PC the jars before you load them with wbs, but after you rinse, soak, boil then load into the jars, YES, those NEED to be PC'd. If you don't PC your WBS, you WILL get contams.
Before I load my jars up, as a precaution, I take a little antibacterial soap (dish soap), put a drop in, then rinse the jars out and get the soap out. Since you are PCing with the WBS inside the jars, nothing more needs to be done.
Check out some of TLs teks if you need a good tek for WBS.

Sorry if i worded that last reply oddly, im smoking down right now, so im slowly getting more blazed haha.
I appreciate it man. Thanks for the info!
I DID PC my jars after i put the WBS in the jars, but did not clean them with soap or anything else, i think they were just over saturated and just my noob experience.
Round 2 with proper lids and a real PC should be A OK

I had problems with oversaturation when I first started, but it was an easy fix, for me at least... I stopped boiling my wbs, as soon as some bubbles start coming up in the boil, yknow' how the water starts bubbling slightly before it starts boiling? Thats when I would pull it off the stove and toss it in the strainer. After I started doing that, I didn't have issues with over saturation again. IDK how anybody can get away with boiling, by that point your wbs gets way too swelled with water.

Im going to try this, sound excellent
See i figured the hotter they are, the more steam it'll produce which means more water evaporation. But i see how the heat and water and boil could make it swell. I'll try that next time, but usually i would have a lot of WBS in the pot at a time and itll take a while to even see bubbles start to arise. Is that normal/fine?

That was another issue I had. I would try making up 14 jars at a time... don't do that. Unless you have a gigantic strainer, you can't steam dry them fast enough. I only do 7 jars at a time now, and I use 2 big strainers. Steam drying is important, so take it slow, do as little wbs at one time as you can, and if you can, get a couple strainers.

But then that would take FOREVER!! should i just have different pots to soak them and heat them up? i usually use 4 cups per pot which would make 2 quart jars filled fully with a little left over, so could i do 12cups to make 6quarts filled and be okay with that?
