Near the bottom of my Verm/BRF cakes is, surrounding some of the aborts, this gelatinous wet goo that seems to dissolve on contact with my skin. Is this a product of some sort of rot? I don't watch my cakes very closely, and some aborts sit around for quite some time.

Is this gooey stuff dangerous? What is it, exactly? I'd be curious to know more.
