Moes outdoor tek

In Moe's outdoor tek it states "Some colonized cakes or colonized birdseed or millet or rye( fresh ones works best...spent ones can be used and should never be put in the trash). Substrate doesnt matter.. cakes are damn cakes! this will be the spawn for the patch."
This is what I plan to do.
Dig the whole six inches deep, and a foot or so across. Probably more.
I will then find patches of manure with mycelium growing on top and transport them into the hole. (For this part, I was wondering if it was okay to take dry manure that has mycelium growth and crumble it up and place into the whole. I just wanted to clarify if it was okay to crumble them and break the mycelium webs).
Take my hay and pack it over the manure cakes.
The next part states taking manure and placing it over the hay. Can I essentially just crumble up more fresh field cow manure (wet/dry) and pack it on top of the hay?
Adding more hay..
Then all the small spawns I see will be placed here. This will depend how long my "farm" will be. If i find a lot of pins, I will make it longer and repeat the steps.
Adding another layer of hay onto the spawns/pins.
Now I am supposed to make a cowshit/wet hay/earth mix. I will have a good sized bucket for this step. And finally adding another layer of wet hay.
I honestly feel I am over stressing this. Anyone who could answer any of my questions - Thank you! If it doesnt rain during the day I will probably water my patch a bit. This is alright correct? I shouldnt have to worry though we are already having constant afternoon showers. Thanks shroomery.

You could try that, but you'd do much better to start with fresh spawn and just create a new outdoor patch.

It sounds fine to me except I would rather use ripened manure than fresh or else worm castings. I'd prefer if the manure had been rained on and dried a few times. But beggars can't be choosers. Moe Howard's tek is hard to mess up its so simple. I'd also try not to go with a spawn ratio of less than 1:10 or you may get sporadic, slow progress, or no fruits at all. And nirdseed goes further than cakes as spawn so the 1:10 ratio is better for birdseed, not brf cakes. Just don't worry about it too much, mother nature takes good care of things.

WBS may go farther, but that's only if squirrels and birds don't tear your patch up trying to eat it. If that happens, you get nothing.

Oh one more thing. I'd recommend using any asian cube rather than american continent cubes for your patch. They say a cube is a cube but the one thing I have noticed over the years is that asian cubes tend to have longer stems. Doing an outdoor patch you'll probably be leaving part of the stem in the earth, taking them off at ground level, and you'll lose a little bit less weight if you use an asian cube for that reason. The little bit of stem in the earth I've always just left there because its growing out of poo but it adds up to multiple ounces pretty fast.
