The main reason we dont really recomend incubators is problems like this. The termostat on your fish tank heater might have gone.
anywa if your armbient temps are 78f its pretty damn perfect.
I use whatever temp my room is at which can even get down to 12c in the beginning of summer and lower at the beginning of summer and never caused me problems.
Infact i think i might have even grown once where temps were in single digits and daytime temperatures were only as high as 12-14
I always thought (maybe a wrong interpretation of so many things i've read) that the optimum colonizing temperature lies between 81-83F. Thats why i really wanted to make sure i could have it in those temperatures. I think i can if i keep a fan blowing air around and the incubator half covered. But if you think that 25-26C would do just fine and add a day or two of colonization time i might just put the incubator aside. thanks
I do want to try cloning and selecting strains on agar, however i want to get a flow hood because i think those operations require a more practical and sterile environment than my tyvek sleeve glovebox. Or am I wrong?

Don't want to jack the OP's thread but just out of curiosity, how long did your grow take from inoculation to harvesting?
My winter has just begun so things are gonna get colder. I haven't got the patience for a slow growing process.
depends. MS solution takes the longest 2-3.5 weeks. then in my experience agar wedge takes bout 2 weeks. but once you have one fully colonized jar you can g2g and cut all those times in half easily. im talking about using grains in quart jars

nah bro a SAB is very efficient. agar is way easier than people know . just get a case of petri dishes and some of this http://www.mycosupply.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key=PDAA01
and a scalpel
assuming you have a pc

Yeah, I've been reading a lot about agar lately and I realise it's the most efficient way to approach this hobby. I'm more interested in how long VedaStick's grow took in such a cold climate as opposed to growing at optimal temps.

during colonization i wouldnt go over 80 degrees ambient. the heat inside of your jars are much hotter than you would imagine.
you want cooler than hotter in my opinion
