Just don't crank on them, not super loose. Leave enough where they can tighten some during the process without any ill effects.

Im not using a PC. Im using a stock pot?
I here that tight lids will cause a vacuum effect later?

The steam doesn't penetrate the jars, whether the bands are loose or not. The bands are left loose on CANNING processes to prevent the jars from exploding as the pressure cooker cools.
When sterilizing substrates with holes in the lids, the holes allow the excess steam to escape, so you can screw the bands down tight.

When the temperatures rises, gas molecules have more energy with volume expanding. As this happens, the pressure causes excess gas to leave the jars. When the jars are cooling, the volume per gas molecules ratio are much smaller than before from gas escaping from heat causing the pressure to pull inward on the glass. If you dont make the lids loose, the pressure causes the glass to crack. So like I said before, close them all the way and open a quarter turn to ensure that they are loose enough without falling off.

I strongly disagree. I never leave bands loose and never have. Steam isn't forced out through the inoculation hole. The steam pressure inside the jar rises and falls with the steam level in the pressure cooker outside the jar. There is never more pressure in the jar than outside unless someone incorrectly pulls the weight off at the end of the cycle to dump steam.
In fact, you can put a solid lid on without holes and screw the ring down tight. I do this all the time when I need sterile water. RR
Still an unsettled debate.

I crank them down tighter than virgin pussy. Never ruined a filter or had a jar crack from it.
When using a lid without a hole, yes, you leave it cracked a bit so steam can escape and equalize during pressure buildup. But anything with a filter can just be tightened as much as you can get it with your hand.

This is bad advice. Tighten the lids all the way. Glass jars are designed to hold a vacuum without breaking as this is how they preserve canned food. However, since you have holes in the lids for inoculation/gas exchange, there won't be any vacuum pulled.
Remember, we're not filling the jar up with liquid the way it's done when canning peaches. We're using a moist but not wet substrate and there's nothing to boil over, so to maintain sterility we tighten the lids until snug. RR
