No growth in Mycobags. What's the deal?
    #1836591 - 08/21/03 09:10 AM (20 years, 7 months ago)

Tomorrow will be a full week from initial injection. I have 4 bags from Mycobag.com and the syringe from sporeworks. These are portabella mushrooms.

I used grain alcohol to sterilize both the bag and needle, and a butane lighter for the needle as well.

Last night I decided to squish the bag in my hands to break up the stuff inside and get it all mixed up (it's kinda airtight). Checked this morning...nothing.

It's in my closet, which is pitch black, and hotter and more humid than the rest of my apt, and I keep the thermostat at 79.

What's the problem? Anything I can do to induce growth?

Relax, my friend has had mycobags take a long long time. Once it took him 30 days just to get half of it colonized, just give it time. Stop looking at it so much, check back every 7 days or so, I know its hard but it's better.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but sporeworks is crap!!! Don't worry, I had a friend who made the mistake of ordering several spore syringes from them, innoculated pressure cooked jars and NONE of them ever came of anything; live and learn...

You spent a relatively small amount of money to learn a lesson that will benefit you for the remainder of your growing life. Order from Ralphsters and enjoy!

It sounds like you have done everything right. If in a couple more days you see nothing different I would write customer service and let them know directly that there may be a problem. I am sure they will replace defective merchandise. When you receive the replacement may sure you mash the bag like the picture and then put in your incubator.

Yea I think mushingthe bags after innoculation speeds up things a lot, but its pointless to do a few days later.
