Yeah- dump those and start over with just BRF. NO Poo in the jars. You would never be able to just pasteurize and not have contams. You need to PC anytime you are getting ready to inoculate. The length of time it takes to colonize 100% is long enough to allow contam's to grow also. Watch Roadkill's video on inoculation. I'm sure one of the other members has it.

veda sticks, the frank tek talks about pasteurizing not sterilizing, isnt that what i need?!
"If the temp goes over 165-170 for more than a few minutes, you will sterilize part of the substrate. It'd be best to toss it and try again. Since we spawn to bulk in open air, a partially sterilized substrate is just as shitty as an unpasteurized substrate."
WHAT? I dont undestand, so sterilizing is a bad idea?
will u quickly direct me to more specifics on how to sterilize? because my jars are cookin now. or is it really just as easy having ur water boil for an hour. and how long should i wait for jars to cool down?

You want to STERILIZE for inoculations and PASTEURIZE your bulk substrate for spawning. You also want to READ the tek's. You are jumping the gun. Get your jars right first then worry about the other later.

In other words, Inoculation is one thing. Spawning to bulk is another. It's in different steps. The first one is to study. Peace.

but sterilizing will mean easier contamination?which i definitely dont want. Will u provide me on specific sterilizing temps and watnut?Ive read many TEKS! none of them talk about sterilizing or pasteurizing being better with my mix of substrate What does spawning for balk substrate mean exactly?

Yes. Sterilizing your SUBSTRATE (which is your BULK stuff, like coco coir, or manure) is BAD. You DON'T want to sterilize because you are also killing off the good bacteria. That's why we pasteurize.
Sterilizing your jars or spawn bags for inoculation is GOOD. You need a sterile environment when you are trying to get mycelium to grow and not bacteria. Just STERILIZE your jars and stop thinking.
As far as temps go- with a PRESSURE COOKER you have the added benefit of PRESSURE and HEAT to completely go through the jars and kill whatever is in there that might grow before your jars are 100%. I hope this helps.

Dude someone is going to shake you like a baby. Go to mushroomvideos.com watch the free brf/pf tek videos and follow exactly. Maybe up to the point of birthing if you want to use manure. We sterilize things like brf or grains to grow mycelium first to 100%, then mix that with pasteurized manure or coco coir to expand mycelium.

TheLoopIs said: a slow rolling boil should be around what temp?
Oh dear... I hope that's a joke
It should be around boiling.
I still can not believe how many people don't understand what boiling water is. It's always 212F unless you're at altitude or under pressure. If you turn up the heat past the simmer you don't increase the heat of the water but just the speed at which it boils off.

They don't talk about it because YOU made up a substrate, and didn't even know if it's a casing, substrate, etc..
It's actually just as difficult to look this stuff up as it is to wait for people to reply with corrections to your "tek"
