Marijuana patch a possibility
LEXINGTON, Ky., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- A University of Kentucky pharmacy researcher is working to create a first-of-its-kind prescription patch to deliver marijuana-like chemicals.
The patch could ease nausea and stimulate appetite in people with AIDS and cancer, the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader reported.
"This is pioneering work," said David Ringer, scientific program director for the American Cancer Society. "It's a very novel use of cannabinoids."
The patch would be a breakthrough because it could administer beneficial marijuana chemicals without the need for inhaling. Smoking marijuana, even for medicinal purposes, is outlawed in most states.
Stinchcomb's patch would use synthetic cannabinoids -- active marijuana compounds created in a chemist's lab -- not anything extracted from the illicit plant.
Once initial studies are complete, human testing could follow. If all goes well, the patch could be commercially available in five years.

Let's develop a product that is not very effective and costs a shit load of money when people can grow their own weed, which is effective and cheap.

Ever heard of vaporization?
It doesn't make clear what cannibinoids are going to be in these patches. It wouldn't surpise me if they only contained delta-9-THC. When will the medical establishment realize that the plant source is more effective and has more cannabinoids.
Jesus christ, let people have their medical weed.

For that matter, let people have their recreational weed as well.

No shit nature's genetic evolutions have been tested for millions of years but instead of doing the rational/logical thing to grow the plants we have to play god since our synthetic canniboids are 'better'? WTF i think not.
-------------------- Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded. - Abraham Lincoln: Speech in the Illinois House of Representatives, Dec 18, 1840.

I'll give them 20 years tops. I've heard even 50+ year olds talkin about how they thought it would be legalized soon in their time (college years).
