Hallucinogens as interrogation tools?
    #1838469 - 08/21/03 08:49 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Anyone have any links or heard anything with countries or institutions allowing or not allowing certain hallucinogens to be used in interrogations?

Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

Wow, you should read 'Acid Dreams: LSD, the CIA, and the Sixties', it goes into how the CIA experimented with it, and pretty much everything else, from the late forties to the seventies, in an attempt to develop a truth drug for interrogation purposes.

...and determined it to be too unpredictable. Hallucinogens, especially LSD are too unpredictable to be of practical use in interrogations. The CIA found that often the subject would become mute, or feel invincible and able to withstand methods of "encouragement"... Basically hallucinogens' lives as a tool for interrogation was aborted while still in the womb.
