dry 60/40?
    #1838436 - 08/21/03 08:41 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

My (entirely hypothetical) casings are now showing a goodly number of developing pins, which I'm (hypothetically) happy about. This is my first time working with coco coir though, so I don't really know what 60/40 looks like when it requires misting. Can anyone refer me to some images of that?

Set some casing mixture aside on a piece of foil and let it dry out! Then you'll know what to look for.

hell a misting wouldn't hurt anyways. just hold the spray bottle a few feet above from the casing.

^^ bad advice. Do not allow the mist to land on the mushrooms, especially if you use peroxide in with your mist water. If your casing is dry, spray or squirt water directly on the casing layer. Do not "water" the actual mushrooms or they may rot, get the blotch, abort, or mutate in the case of peroxide.

Well, one should follow all precautions to minimize the possibility of introducing contamination to ones grow. While you can do so and end up fine, its all about prevention. Better safe than sorry. There would be no advantage to misting on your mushrooms, only side effects. Just keep the casing layer moist (although be careful of over-saturation).

If you mist for supplemental humidification, then you really cannot completely avoid hitting the mushrooms. In this case you should try to keep it to a minimum, and use a very small percentage of peroxide.
