More info about the Victory Act:
    #1836849 - 08/21/03 10:45 AM (20 years, 7 months ago)

Ok..more info about the Victory Act, and guys...I'm scared shitless.

Victory Act Info

"This bill would treat drug possession as a 'terrorist offense' and drug dealers as 'narco-terrorist kingpins,' " the aide argued. "To say that terrorist groups use a small percentage of the drug trafficking in the United States to finance terrorism may be a fair point, but this bill would allow the government to prosecute most drug cases as terrorism cases."

"It really seems to be more about a political agenda to jail drug users than a serious attempt to stop terrorists."

"Absolutely nothing would prevent the attorney general from using these subpoenas to obtain the records of people who have no connection to terrorism, drug trafficking or crime of any sort."

-----------

Check it out and see for yourself. This kind of stuff is driving me insane.

It is pretty scary, no doubt, but they're trying to create the world in their own vision of how things should be, making some excemptions for themselves where desired, no doubt; otherwise, such legislation would make Bush's niece a terrorist then too, correct?
neutralizer, very appropriate quote...why do people even care what others do with themselves? Are they so driven to make everyone else like they are? Very sick, definately not emotionally stable.
Man, I seriously hope he doesn't get reelected; maybe Dean could reverse some of the shenanigans George and the boys have been engaged in (I'm just assuming he gets the nod).

That is scary!...how do you americans feel about this?

"This bill would treat drug possession as a 'terrorist offense' and drug dealers as 'narco-terrorist kingpins,' "

How is terrorism and drugs related, other than it provides an amazing opportunity for explotation?...

They also had the help of a bunch of old Jews in Florida who "voted" for a Nazi sympathizer named Pat Buchanan.

I'm terrified. This is really...well. It definately doesn't help me have faith in our country. To say it lightly, it makes me want to pull out my hair and scream.

Azmodeus, even if it means incarcerating every American, at least the streets will be safe for the children...who will of course be kept in massive orphanages since thier parents will be in prison.
I think America is a big experiment in social psychology, just using the human tendency towards conformity, typical of a social animal, in concert with the mass media to condition the masses to accept whatever agenda the government chooses to promote.

I'm saving up as we speak!  As it stands now, I should have enough funds to relocate countries with minimal financial risk in about 2-3 years.  I just hope by then its not too late.  What country do you reside in Azmodeus, out of curiousity?

Edit:  Never mind...I saw your profile and realized that you lived in BC, Canada, my hoped for destination.

A friend is moving to BC soon, and I'd be right behind him, but as I understand it you have to have a job skill that is in needed and in short supply, so as not to displace native Canadians, which is something I really don't have. I'd love to go to school for culinary arts, but I have to work, given a mortgage and all the other associated bills in my life, and the one school not too far away that does have a program in this doesn't offer the classes at night (I work during the day).
I suppose one shouldn't let it's country's elected officials chase one out of his/her own country, that's pretty sad to consider.

Thats good.  I hear the netherlands is really nice too, but that'd be some culture shock im sure...
Im close to vancouver bc...its an amazing city.  The taxs are kinda high here, but you can smoke pot pretty much without any worries, lots of outdoor recreation, it was rated high on good places to live...

Where are you going to in bc?

No, its the same as most other places, you need to know someone to get a job...or have lots of experience, it not really what you know...
You can work the day you get here at a labour station. It hard work, but they pay $8-10 bucks an hour, your hours are completely flexible, so you can look for other work while working too.
YOu could make a living in the fall from mushroom picking in the north of BC...start a shop...i would recomend against going to school here as they unfroze the tuition, and prices, lack of quality, and number of students is on the rise.

That is true. But a country is just a place where your born, with certain rules differin from other countries. Its all the same earth....
In the end all you can do is live how you wish to the best of your ability.

I'm sure most people mean "then entire Bush administration" when they say "Bush". Noone thinks Bush runs the show by himself.
