Sketchy DWI arrest

I was arrested over the weekend for DUI in Florida, I guess now DWI. I fell asleep in my car because I live a few hours from where I live and didn't want to drive at night. Apparently a person was around the area where I was near a school acting suspicious and police were called by one of the neighbors that lives in the area. Apparently they didn't find the person, but they woke me up in the car, it was turned off but I think they keys were in it. I was in a parking lot near the school. I was abruptly woken up and questioned and instantly forced to do a sobriety test and a breathalyzer. I was sober so I passed the breath test multiple times at 0.000, but failed the other tests.
I had an unopened box of nitrous chargers (legal) and was charged with possession of nitrous and "huffing" - even though there was no possible way I could have used them. I think the only way they could have put the charge on me is because they said they found a balloon in the car? I think it was covering a bottle or something but it was obviously could no way be used with the chargers, there wasn't a cracker in the car.
I also had my prescription for alprazolam (xanax) in the middle console and had some of them in a separate container in my backpack which might end up fucking me. I had them filled that same day and there were about 10 missing and they questioned me about, I remained silent for the most part, but I was sort of out of it from being abruptly woken up and having lights shining in my face and stunned at what was happening.
I was booked into the county jail for the night, urine tested, which came back dirty for I don't even know what yet, I was partying a few days before but not the same day. I was let out on no bond. I'm pretty sure I had some money stolen from me as my wallet was taken and then on top of booking fees and stuff the rest of it was put on a card when I was released which was MUCH less then what I had after booking fees etc. I'm also wondering if the cops took some of my xanax? Even though I had a prescription for it, I'm being told that I can get a felony for every pill that was out of the bottle in a separate bottle in my backpack.
So right now I'm officially charged with DUI and "possession". This is not my first offense for possession, but it is my first DUI. This whole thing is really messed up, I'm looking for any helpful advice.

Xanax got ya!
Xanax got me for a DUI 5 years ago. Doesn't matter if you have a prescription either.

Sorry to hear about your luck.
First off relax.
Cop can bust anyone with any whim the cops wishes to. It doesn't mean the one charged is even remotely guilty, they just do that to drum up some business for the courts and for the lawyers.
I am just going to address this one point above as I often encounter this while being searched.
I carry codeine phosphate which is a pain killer. I keep a bottle of it in the car, I keep a bottle of it at home, I keep a bottle of it at my friends place, I keep a bottle of it in my camera bag while I am doing photography, I also keep a bottle of it in my desk at work, in my desk at home, and almost anywhere else I often tend to spend time.
With my car, I have learned NOT to leave a labeled bottle saying there is codeine inside. Otherwise, it will get stolen. I've had a cop ask me about pills in an unmarked pill bottle and so I explain. I've had medication stole out of my car in the past because people identified a narcotic was in the bottle. Now I know that it is not too unlikely anyone will swallow an unknown pill from an unknown pill bottle.
Why do I keep it all over the place, well because I never know when I will need a pain killer, and I am a man, I do not carry a darn purse.
You would use the same argument.
As for the missing pills.....how are they proving they are missing. Perhaps you had them tucked in another bottle at home in your den or bathroom cabinet similar like I do.
You were smart to dummy up and stay silent.
Now you have time to think....and reason things out. and
you did not testify against yourself ( which is the whole damn reason for keeping your yap shut)

10 xanax missing and it was filled that day?
No wonder you were sleepy.
Unfortunately, the cops probably made a similar assumption. Especially if you failed a field sobriety test.

yeah, I just put them in a different bottle because too many people steal my stuff. Bottle was within half a foot of the script bottle though! I didn't take more then my recommended dose. I don't know if cops stole them or they juts aren't counting the other bottle or what. After all the sketchy shit I wouldn't doubt that they took some. They definitely took about a couple hundred dollars from me or maybe a little less.
Public defender has my only interview with him the EVENING before my arraignment. WTF!!! Guess I might have to see what I can do and do the case myself with lawyer friends and let him represent me still. Obviously he's going to just offer me a plea deal, but I didn't do anything wrong so I don't want to do that. But I don't have 4000-8000 to drop on a lawyer

Just a side note.
Sometimes when in trouble with the police another remedy is to not try and fight too hard.....
Let me explain..
Don't sweat the loss of money. Unless you can prove it, it will just go against you.
Just put on your innocent sweet face, tell them that you had food poisioning because you ate some chicken wings that must have been very bad. It was that that made you sick.
Thank the police for being so police and trying to help you out. Let them know that you most certainly have learned from this experience and treat them with nothing but praise and love.
Yes I know you probably think the above statement is totally nuts. But they have the power, and the way for you to win is to walk away without having to spend money.
Respect the judge and respect the police. When I get my ass in trouble with the law, I kiss a lot of ass and show respect.
Use a public defender for free if you wish, however tell him that you are wanting to resolve it rather than kick a lot of dust
