FOG machine
    #996136 - 10/27/02 01:12 AM (21 years, 5 months ago)

A buddy of the raccoons has some friends in a band. They have to move their eqt out of a warehouse they practice in &  plead with the raccoon to help them out.

After they offer to pay for the gas, the old coon loans them a truck, but goes along for the ride, to make sure his truck doesn't come back in shambles (we all know those band guy's & how they get sometimes :smirk:).

Long story short. They have lots of FX eqt. Amougst which are several FOGGERS.

So, the old coon eyeballs the smallest one. It is 700 watt & will pump out 2500 CFM of FOG via a small internal steam generator. It has a digital timer, remote switch & a small internal tank. But, the hose from the internal tank can be directed to a larger external source.

Long story shorter: They offer it to the raccoon, instead of the gas money. The old coon goes for the deal & now has a nifty little FX fogger.

Anybody have experiance with or ever use one of these Lil Sumbitchs for a humidity source in cultivation?

uhhhmm.....it does burn some kind of oil to create the "foggy" FX, doesnt it?
I dont think it has anything to do with humidity.

peace...

You can use a special mixture in it for creating a long lasting fog effect.

I hooked it up, filled it with water & blew a wet moist vapor of fog like roles across the north sea in the morning.

But, within  a meter of the nozzle, it is warm. Beyond that, it is a cool fog.

it isn't oil it is water and ~30% glyseine, which makes the fog hang about longer. but if the machine is washed well it should work as long as the over all temp is not taken too high

yeah, it's glycerin. not exactly sure what effect that might have on the fruits or the surfaces (walls, bins) after awhile. glycerin IS a vegetable oil is it not?

I do not think it would be very practical for mush cult , to excessive (unless you have larger grow area ) hmmmmmmm 6T , for you anything is possible . But they are real fun for trip parties , as long as not the one that uses "fog juice" (shit stinks like old women ......powdery ) , and if glycerine type , not wise to be breathing in that stuff constantly , like you would in a grow set up .
No with just water , and turning into a mist like a humidifier does , would be safe , but like I said , I thinks it is a bit too much moisture being pumped out .
You old groupie you , hangin out with band members !

For something similar but smaller scale perhaps something like this could be used. I'm pretty sure I saw at least one post in mush. cult. about using one of these.

Will those things run on water? I thought they only ran on "Fog Juice".

The ones that psyphon linked to work with just water, they use ultrasonic technology like in cool mist humidifers. The fog machines that 6T posted about are supposed to use fog juice, however apparently don't require it.

in the case of humidity in a grop chamber for primarily casing, would you elevate the tray and let the fog "float below"as they do not need or like a abundance of moisture directly on them?. These 24 dollar foggers they would be better for cakes?

Probably a cool mist humidifier or aquarium air pump + bottle, or jar, etc would be better I just mentioned the fogger because I thought it was interesting and relevant.

Your idea might work but you would probably end up with a lot of standing water on the bottom. It would probably be best to set it on a timer to only come on for a minute or so every so often. It might even be possible to have this simulate hand misting of casings...hmm..I wonder...

Alternatively, maybe you could put the unit in a large soda bottle or similar and run aquarium tubing from the bottle cap into the chamber, essentially I think you'd be making your own ultrasonic humidifier, but you might still need an aquarium pump to push the misty air through and into the chamber. This might be overkill and pointless since just the aquarium pump + bottle seems to work pretty well.

I hope this helps. I can explain this more if necessary.

ive actually used one of the mini foggers for reptiles to simulate the misting that cakes need so hey dont dry out, its on a time so it only comes on three times a day for5 minutes, it helps out considerably since my place isnt to sterile and that keeps my from having to hand mist all day long expossing them to contams, and also the cool mist they produce lowers the temps in my fruiting chamber to just the right temps, around 72 to 76. the only draw back is they dont have an internal resivor tank so it runs off of a tube in a bowl of wate out side the fruiting chamber which can harbor contams, but i just rigged up a tupperware container with a whole fo the tubing and sealed it and on one end i have another whole with a filter over it to provide the machine with the airflow it needs to suck up the water. when used with spring or boiled water it works great.

Interesting...this could be a substitute for a humidifier?

foggers on cycle timers are better than cool mists in my opinion.

My little ultras are the best, fog is far superior to misting IME.

hey what about this?

Rig up a ultrasonic in a really small bowl and a splash guard (I have one of these for home decor, with a plastic guard (number K021 on the link above) and saucer to place on top). Pretty much the ones you buy for home decor but a mini adaptation.

Anyways, why not put a small amount of hydrogen peroxide in the water, that way, not only is it misting but its also preventing contams.

PS: I'm interested in growing, and have never attempted, and don't know much more than the basics, so if hydrogen peroxide would kill the productivity or anything, it was just a creative idea.
