There is always a chance. You have to know yourself and your drug. I don't think it would be a good idea for the inexperienced.

I've spoken with one guy who jumped off a bridge while tripping. After he entered the water, he became disoriented and couldn't tell which way was up. Eventually his common sense kicked in and told him to follow the bubbles. Just something to keep in the back of your mind around water.

monterey you say? you in cali rankscraggy? I could see waves being too intimidating and powerful when on shrooms...like a mighty sea creature...and my equilibrium is too messed up while tripping to surf, but if you can do it i bet it'd be neato.

I've surfed a reef south of Monterey (Carmel area...) while on 2g's. It wasn't intimidating at all, the reef was really kelpy, water was clearish and as usual there was every creature imaginable out living and being lively. The coolest thing I can mention about that trip was that I couldn't distinguish a seperation point betweeen myself and the water. Thats the best I can explain it...
I know older heads who've done many hits of LSD while surfing all around the Bay Area back in the day. They say it's a lot of fun. I can't imagine how that would be.
I think with SCUBA and tripping, there is just too much gear to tend to and tiny little nuances to note. I don't really think ANYBODY other then JACQUE COUSTEAU could negotiate a SCUBA sesh on mushrooms or whatevs. You'd definately at least have to have a sitter figure out your nitrogen/blood levels and chart your shit out. I couldn't imagine this either. It's already a trip sober.

I lived in Monterray from 89-92. I was in the Army at Ft. Ord. If you are going to be processed, brainwashed, and have your life put on the line, Monterray is the place to do it from. I hated it when I was out there, but now I kind of miss it these 11 years later. I've been meaning to go back and see if some old friends are still there. I shudder to think that some of those crazy kids might be pillars of the community now. I had lots of civi friends and they showed me the really cool places up and down the central coast. Waterfalls, the wine barrel house, etc.

Monteray has traffic jams now... hah. What a bitch, it's grown a lot in the past ten years for sure. Fort Ord, by the way is nothing but an ugly pimple on that beautiful stretch of coast's buttocks.
The best part of the place is underneath it all anyways.
