Is This Poor Trich. Salvageable?
    #18353383 - 06/01/13 12:24 PM (10 years, 8 months ago)

So about a year ago we had an unusually hot and sunny day early in the season and unfortunately one of my little trich. cuttings got a really bad sunburn. It has been sitting indoors, dormant, for the past year and does not seem to be completely dead, but is not growing. The cutting is relatively young and does not have a very mature root system.

Does the cutting seem salvageable? If I continue to water as is it will likely sprout a new branch, correct? Would it be more wise to lay the cutting on its side and try to get it to root as a log?

Thanks

Its savable, I would make sure it gets proper watering.
Cut the tip off, root it and wait for pups on the mother plant.

I know very little though, about this.

Poor thing.

If it's been fine like this for the past year then I would leave it be and wait for it to throw out a pup. Leave this to grow to 10+ inches before removing and rooting. Only thing to be mindful of at this stage is some sort of rot taking hold of the damaged tissue. Try not to wet the damaged areas to limit an infection, after a season's growth the damage should be well healed. If rot takes hold then you will need to cut it out back to healthy tissue. Hopefully this doesn't happen.
