My Monotub and trays.. Tray fruiting :)))))

So I've been seeing people's monotub lately.... figured I would post mine
I believe in straight coir, and I think that is why my pinsets always rock, whether multi-spore or clones.
Although, these do happen to be clones (not monoculture), these results are typical, and I haven't made a tub yet that didn't produce less than 5 ounces first flush.
The monotub is 4 quarts of spawn to 1 brick of pasteurized coir.
The trays are 1 quart of spawn mixed with however much coir I had. One brick will make about 3-4 of these trays.
The trays are free from my restaurant. Diced tomatoes are shipped in them. Other restaurants use the same trays.
Anyway. Here's the pics. I'll update over the next couple days.
My trays are making me nervous.
Some are pink buffalo multi-spore. Other's are my menace clones.
Enjoy!

TRAYS

This one is the only one starting to pin. Its a clone.

Wow great tubs! I think i need to step up to that method soon. So it's just 4 qt's to one brick of coir? I'll research this method also, do you have a tek for the tubs?

I mean, I just followed TL's One FLUSH WONDER Tek... except I don't have vermiculite.
Saw an Old Hand use straight coir in trays before, so I put the two together and never looked back.
I wouldn't have used trays if I would have had more of each kind of spawn available. I didn't want to mix different clones and strains.
I feel like I'm having a hard time keeping my trays humid I think the bubble wrap works better than wax paper.

Vermiculite will help greatly, too. It has trace minerals in it that are beneficial to mycelium growth. Those bad boys need some more FAE & light!
How can you not find verm? It's at every hardware store sold in 8 quart bags. Or go to your local garden center & have them order you a 4 cubic foot bag. 1 bag, usually, lasts me a year or so.

Goddamn!! Those are looking awesome!! I am definitely going to have to try a monotub next time around. What do you think of the Pink Buffalo? I've heard a lot of good things about them.

The local big box hardware stores don't carry it and the petshop is up the road and they have coir. lol. I'll have to make a 50/50 tub next and see the results. I have 6 jars of clones ready to go.
I'll definitely give them more light, and I took out two of my poly holes.
My trays look god awful tho
I think the bubble wrap worked better because it was thicker and created a better micro climate. I am using cheap wax paper, and its really thin. I just went and put bigger sheets over the top

Bubblewrap is better because it allows for tiny air pockets between it & the substrate. That way it's creating a perfect micro-climate on the surface, where as wax paper you need to crumple & put on top of the substrate to achieve this effect.

Doesn't look like it, and I wouldn't recommend it, since she has colonizing tubs in there, too.

I colonized dozens of tubs while others were fruiting across the room
Never had a single issue. Now a days I cover them with a blanket to insulate them a bit from temp swings.

Yea. That'd work, too. I know PP, back in the day, said he opened a colonizing monotub & would fan it out every day. Colonized & fruited fine. Actually, it might have been faceyneck, can't remember
But, yea if there was a fan in the room, I'd have something extra covering my totes. Just to keep the AE down.

This is a closet space, no fans. AC running 24/7 across the room. Closet doors are vented. I pulled out the poly before I went to work and came home to find this

Dead on about the FAE. I'll start fanning.
Now, about those trays...
What you are seeing is bigger sheets of wax paper over the original one.
Its holding the humidity. Should I fan more often?

Also, on a side note, my roomate keeps it like fucking Antartica in here, so temps are in the low 60's. I don't know what the closet space is running, but it isn't above 70.
I just need this to work. Moving next month.

I have nothing constructive to add. Thats some pretty nice dense growth you go there though.
Would you attribute that to the wax paper?

I know, poor little guys. I always feel so sad for them when they are not having a good time.
I even hate killing my agar plates after making transfers.
anyway.
Good idea about the guide. I made it there once aleady

No. Wax paper isn't being used in the tub.
I attribute the dense growth to the fact these are clones from a tall skinny fruit body.
Although I think my awesome pin sets are from straight coir,
TL will argue with me

Those are looking nice! I agree, I love how they're gravitating towards the FA. Its pretty awesome how one can tinker with something and watch their babies respond

Grown you have little lady.
Looks great TheApprentice . So glad to see you having such success . but I do agree with everyone else. Looks like your tubs need more FAE.
