Recording old audio tapes onto my PC
    #1833476 - 08/20/03 02:48 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

Does anyone know of any good links on this subject?

Im sure I would have no problem linking my tape player and computer together using the mic and speaker inputs, but what free program would best record the tape so that I may later burn it on cd? Thanks!

Ohhhh it won't be that easy. In fact, it is that easy but sound quality will suck if you're having a basic soundcard. I mean, the line in and Mic in on a cheap SoundBlaster card can't record all the frequencies (human ear goes from 20 to 20000 hertz).

A good program for recording is SoundForge, made by Sonic Foundry.

I onced converted a Vinyl to CD and did it with Soundforge. I was also using a Mixer and a Sound Blaster Extigy. It worked kinda great.

.fs.
