Setting: 2 petri dishes fully colonized (unlabeled) 1 stereoscopic microscope (magnification 15 x -. 25 x )
mission: can i tell which is which so i could use that knowlage and tell the rest of my unmarked petri's apart without actually fruiting them (since they fruit on different substrates ...

You are trying to distinguish between oyster mycelium and Ps. cubensis (B+) mycelium?
Next time, label your plates. Always label everything.
Cube mycelium usually looks like this

looool I did label... but SOMEBODY (not mentioning names... cough cough my fiancee) sprayed bleach into the incubation room tryin to clean the air flow where the petri's were.....
ahem ...
thats what I mean by "WHERE labeled"
anywho's ... if i post some pics of my petri's i'd like a second opinion if you don't mind... headin down right now to take a few pic's

Should be pretty easy to tell those apart. Oysters rarely show any rhizos.

Should be easy to tell those apart but you could always drop them from a couple inches up and the Cube mycelium will probably blue a bit.

if you have a awesome sense of smell you might be able to sniff the oyster plate out . it should smell a bit like anise star.

I agree, you should very easily be able to visually ID the different myc. Oyster myc will be a lot more fuzzy.
