Rolling in vermiculite??!?!

This chick I know wants to dunk her cake and then roll it in vermiculite after the first flush. What she wants to know is does the vermiculite have to be sterile or can it be right out of a clean bag? And does the vermiculite have to be wet? Thank you.

Sterile is a plus, but not a necessity, although I'd pasteurize it at least. It doesn't have to be wet, it'll get wet in the fruiting chamber, but you can moisturize it first.

Good Advice- there are NO RULES for growing. everything you will see here are tips and everything is from others past experiences. dont be scared to do anything wrong because you learn from it. you cant keep beggin for details. get an idea of how shrooms grow, then figure the rest out. good luck to you.

A foaf dunks and then rolls and double cases. It works wonders for him.

My pit bulls kept rolling in jiffy mix after each dunk then set the cakes in a inch deep plant drip tray filled with jiffy mix. Now their half pint cakes are about seven inches tall!

Hellow I guess I?m the one who came up with this a little while back. This is what I?ve found. Pour the verm over the moist cake you won?t damage as much myc if a mistake happens. (slippery hands and such.) Remove the cake and spray with water until moist and be sure to check them verm moisture every few days. Here is the first cake I did this to.

But I thought that you weren't supposed to spary the cackes directly?? And the only reason that shes doing it on the second flush is because she didnt want to mess with any thing at first but i guess she thinks the results are to good.

here:
1. Sterilize your verm (just in case) 2. Dunk cakes for 24 hours 3. Roll cakes in dry verm 4. Spray down with water until moist 5. Place in fruiting chamber 6. Harvest your shit load of shrooms 7. Repeat after every flush 8. Have fun!

The fuzz is normal once you see it comming threw the verm stop spraying. Pins are about to start soon. Treat it like a casing at this poing and once the flush is taken treat like a cake again with the dunk and shock and roll in the verm and stuff.
