Why French Kids Don't Have ADHD 2

Someone shared this with me today and I thought it was an interesting read. I know many people on here have strong feelings about ADHD and these types of diagnosis' on people. Based on this article I can say I agree that the US can do more to treat people instead of prescribing them pills for every little thing. A persons diet plays a major role in their health and should be altered accordingly IMO...

What are your thoughts?

Also, I think that the French approach to the situation is more logical and less detrimental.

ADHD and the former ADD diagnoses are complete bullshit. A majority of people (kids) that pass the very broad and general outlines of what classifies your behavior as ADHD is an exhibited trait of being a child, so they feed them speed to slow them down. Your kid isn't hyperactive, that is called curious and inquisitive.

this is cool. I agree with the article underpinning that the US overdiagnoses many disorders namely because the parameters in place that the psychiatrists work under is so flawed. The pharmaceutical companies basically have arms elbow deep in the assholes of NIMH

Exactly! The US pharmaceutical industry is the best drug industry in the world. Then the government makes extra money off of them when they are illegally sold.

I remember in high school when I realized that all of the hyper/annoying kids were almost always the ones who had been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and were on the legal speed. Even if this is the case do they really need amphetamines? How do they get away with giving adderall and ritalin to people, how can you justify that? Back in the day those were party drugs for the all nighters, I can't imagine people NEEDING any of it more so than one needs a cup of coffee.

We must experience totally different worlds. Curiosity works great around here, if its MANAGED.
Then there are those who ask a million and one questions a day. I can't fathom how those folks view that as socially acceptable. I know a few people like that.

There are a lot of hypotheses floating around to explain the difference in the numbers.
One that I find palatable is the notion that people in the US have so much more ADHD because it was ADHD that made them come here in the first place.
I prefer this explanation because it doesn't put those god damned pastry-eating cheese-sniffing surrender monkeys on a pedestal.
