Removed from pot before it cooled...

I removed my jars from the pot before the pot started cooling because I misunderstood PF tek for simple minds. How bad is that? Why is it bad at all? Should I redo my jars? I was getting mixed responces from people...

its not bad. its only bad if you innoculate them while they are still hot. as long as they were in there long enough to sterilize you'll be fine.

Let the entire apparatus cool completely. Do not try to open the pressure cooker before it is cool to the touch, and do not try to speed the cooling process, as a quick change in temperature could crack the jars. Be sure to let the jars cool for several hours, because heat is often trapped in the center of the cake, even if the jar feels cool. This heat can kill your spores if you try to inoculate too soon after cooking. It?s best if you can let your jars cool overnight.

Oh ok no problem, I am being very very sterile with everything. I used sterile gloves and kimwipes. My jars are plastic. I'll make sure not to touch it for like 12 hours

I know someone who removed the jars before they were cooled and as the jars cooled they sucked in cooler air from the room which contaminated the jars. If one were using filter material of some kind this would probably not be a problem, but I would not do this with standard PF jars.
Good luck!

Should I wait a day or two to see if anything grows in them before innoculating?

good call...i never knew that. i usually take them when they are cool enough to touch...and i have had a fairly good success rate. but that is good to know. i guess i should go back and read some FAQs myself.

the first time my FOAF did this PF tek, he took out the jars before the pot cooled completley, and he ended up with the dreaded green mold all down where his injection holes were, even on his test jar that he never innoced.

Rohypnol...it's tough to make the call on what I would do in your situation. Knowing what I know from this guy I know's past experience, it might not be a good idea to innoculate unless you have plenty of spore solution and losing this batch wouldn't be a big deal. Otherwise, I would say scrap it and make another batch. Either way I wish you luck!
You could wait to innculate, and if contams set in they should present themselves within a week.

I decided that I will only redo one of them, and hope that it works for the other 4. If it doesn't, I'll have the spores from the retry one to try and make a print.

I took mine out like 5 minutes after the PC was done and put them outside to cool, and they all colonized perfectly... and I'm not even using a filter, just plain ol' aluminum foil

I agree you'll probably be fine. But next time I would just leave them in there overnight and then you'll know that your pot and the jars have cooled.
