Heaven on earth....
    #1828006 - 08/18/03 10:51 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Will only be created once religon is eliminated.

That is all.

No one knows the worth of innocence till he knows it is gone forever, and that money can't buy it back. Not the saint, but the sinner that repenteth, is he to whom the full length and breadth, and height and depth, of life's meaning is revealed. Good and evil loose all objective meaning and are seen as equally necessary and contrasting elements in the masterpiece that is the universe.

I disagree.

First, ( And I don't think you were saying it would) it will never be eliminated.

For Heaven to exist on earth, suffering would have to end, and religion doesn't have a monopoly on suffering. In fact, many would argue that with it, suffering is lessened, or eliminated.

Then we go back to humanity's need for suffering. It seems to be a driving force to our being. What would happen if it were eliminated?

That depends on how you define heaven.

And what hag said.

Your way, or the highway, right. Is that heaven on earth?

At that, it's an unintelligent, one-liner comment that rests arrogantly in a box.

(After a few minutes with the vaporizer...  :stash:)

Why would you want to get rid of religion anyway?

The people that participate in organized religion, have created their own reality.  It may not be one you share, but if they are content, and they have found their purpose, haven't they succeeded in life?

This does of course, exclude those who wish to kill those who are in disagreeance with their creed.

We must all find our OWN answers, and I don't think badly about anyone who choses that path.  For the most part, they are great people, with a lot of love, that contribute tremendously to society.

..only when every single person stops getting offended, puts their personal crap aside and werks for the best of humanity. pretty highly unlikely. hard for heaven and hell to coexist on the same plane eh..

religion, itself, is far from the root of the problem.

suffering will always exist, it's a basic human condition. but there's no reason we can't have unity.

organized religion prevents this because it makes it too easy to dismiss entire groups of people who think differently. I guess its not entirely the fault of religion, it's just human nature coming through... but religion isn't exactly helping us break free from human nature either...

PS Heaven on Earth is already here. find it.

well for "Heaven" to exist anywhere, we'd need Christianity.... But I TOTALLY agree with what you're saying

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

That's cause it's such a damn good opiate.

And the Enlightometer says... "Nope".

Suffering, a basic human conditon, nah. The fact that most people yet continue to suffer is the reason we can't have unity.

I don't suffer, and when I do, I learn from it and continue on the path of not suffering, pulling the plug on all of those addictions..

The first step towards Heaven on Earth is in your own mind. The best way to spread it is to continue living in that state of mind, showing others how it is possible.
Peace.
