3ds Home Brew?
    #18262551 - 05/14/13 07:07 AM (10 years, 9 months ago)

I just aquired a 3ds. Is there a good known way to run homebrew on this shit yet? I would think it would be rather simple seeing as it has an onboard SD card. I have searched around a little bit but I haven't really found solid, current advice.

A lot of old flash carts don't work on the 3DS anymore, but you can run DS ROMs and homebrew with the SuperCard DSTwo. The DSTwo is the only flash cart currently on the market which is likely to work with all future 3DS firmware updates. It will run in DS mode, so it won't be able to use the faster speed or the higher resolution or the 3D capability of the 3DS. However, you can still use emulators and homebrew which were developed for the DS. No 3DS exploits have been made public yet and there's no way to run homebrew in 3DS mode or take advantage of the 3DS's new features at this time. Also you can't run homebrew directly off the SD card, you need to shell out for a flash cart like the DSTwo and a MicroSD card to put in it. It's a great system, I play it a lot and the 3D effect is fantastic, but for homebrew and emulation I think the original PSP is still king.

Thanks Ythan.

Know any good places to order this card you speak of? I used to have an r4 card for my ds lite. I heard there is an r4 cart for the 3ds. Is this true?

Also, we should exchange FC's. I think I am going to purchase Mario Cart 7 tonight.
