Hello everyone,
This is my first grow. I am using PF Tek, with BRF, Vermiculite, Bee pollen, and liquid worm castings. Originally I had three syringes of spores from a common vendor, and sponsor. P. Cubensis Ecuadorian, Cambodian, and Freestone Texas. Unfortunately, none of the Freestone Texas colonized at all, none. The whole syringe was a dud.
I fully colonized sets of 1/2 pint jars. 2 Cambodians, and 2 Ecuadorians, and have dunked and rolled in vermiculite. They are 2 days in the Shotgun Fruiting Chamber.
My chamber has 1/4 inch holes drilled about every 2 1/2, maybe 3 inches. On each side, including bottom. It is lifted off a dry wooden surface with 4 styrofoam cups, not covering any of the bottom holes.
I have been opening a window lately in the room to bring in more fresh air to the room, because from my understanding, the outside air is much cleaner and better for the mushrooms. It also makes it easier to keep the humidity up inside the FC.
The inside of the fruiting chamber smells like the mushrooms only. I haven't smelled any other type of possible contamination, or seen one, although, this is my first grow.
I have a big question on humidity. When misting the chamber, which from my understanding I should do several times a day, if the humidity has dropped. What am I supposed to be aiming for? I have a layer of vermiculite on the top of each of my cake, but I'm afraid of blowing the vermiculite off the cake. Also, should I mist the perlite? How often, and under what factors do you growers usually mist? There is generally no condensation on the inside top of the FC lid.
I highly appreciate any adivce, or tips anyone could give.

I don't want to knock a shroomery sponsor, but yes. It was the free spore syringe I had gotten with my order.

Yeah they've always done me right i hate to knock em but the same thing happened with the ones i ordered a few weeks ago. Theyre the only vendor ive used and theyre great 99% of the time. a few years back i got a contam b+ but the reimbursed me. I wanted to tell them something but idk what to say, I cant say i knocked up some jars and nothin happened lol.
When the b+ syringe was contamed it was visible and i sent a pic, they sent me two more free ones. Contact them and they should take care of ya. shit happens sometimes

Here are the photos I wanted to post of my set up right now. I am very open to constructive criticism.
- First photo is the top of the SGFC, just for a view.

- The second photo is the one of the sides, to give reference of where the holes are with the perlite. I was thinking maybe a little too much perlite?

- Top view of all the cakes. Top left, and Lower bottom's are Ecu, Others are Cam's.

- Cambodian's up close. I don't see any pins or anything yet.

- Better photo of the Cambodian's.

- Ecuadorian's

Please let me know what you all think (:

You might want to space the cakes out a bit and add more holes to the SGFC.

I have now spaced the cakes out. I will try to find some time where I can drill some more holes and rinse the perlite again. Thank you for the suggestion though.

No problem! I just figure, when the cakes are too close; it'll definitely hinder the circulation of FAE around the cakes and create pockets of "dead air".
Looks good though

Thanks for the information (: Say if I am in the area for a long period of time, between frequent mistings, would it be okay if I slightly left the lid barely unlatched? To help with the evaporation, and FAE, but if I were to leave I would of course latch it completely.
I have another jar currently colonizing, I forget which it is, cam or ecu. But I was wondering if in my photos, it looked like I had rolled them in vermiculite well enough? It is kind of hard to get it to stick.
Thanks for viewing everyone, Indigo

Have a photo update here of some of my cakes.
The top left, and bottom left (left column), are P. Cubes Ecuadorians, and the top right, and bottom right (right column), are Cambodians.
From my understanding the white fuzz on the Cambodian's caps is mycelium, and not much to worry about. Read from one of RR's posts.
My Ecuadorians colonized faster, and fruited faster, but just recently in the day my Cambodian's have been beasting it, and have lots of pins. I don't want to get too excited though, because I imagine some will abort.
Question for any viewers: Would you imagine I'll have pickings within the next 4-5 days? I know this is a commonly asked question, but I was just curious.

Hahahaha, much appreciated for the quick reply! Just what I was hoping for ;D I still have 2 more cakes to add to the terrarium within a few weeks, too (: Sooo stoked on these (: I've been maingly focusing most on fresh air, highly frequent fannings, not so much misting because the humidity doesn't drop a whole lot, and things are staying wet.
Stoked as fuuuuuck!
