Here?s the first in the series ... I saw this scripture on ?tags?, and it moved across the tags like stocks on the bottom of a TV screen ... the face was inspired by a ?layer? over my carpet of infinite animated aztec art ...

Beautiful drawing my friend :smile: I showed that to my roommate and she was quite impressed.

I find the patterns that the Shipibos commonly use in their fabrics and decor are the closest representations of the Ayahuasca vision (as that is the point of them).

i just posted the updated version above with more shading ... when it's finally done I'll replace it then too ...

i'll start a new aya inspired drawing tonight, and it'll be a lot bigger/more expansive, the way ayahuasca is ...

(i plan on capturing the 'they' aspect of it, with the futuristic cockroach creatures and machinery of CEVs  :cool:)

Sorry for the delay, but I finally started a new one ... this is part of the first 'encounter' i had on ayahuasca ... an alien insectoid with looooong black 'arms' and jewelry inside of them holding a little ball of brilliant psychedelic colors ... it looked like they were showing me a toy ...

anyway, this is only a detail of the arm i have so far, but this is to be a 1600x1200 picture, if i can manage to get the motivation to want to finish the entire thing  :nut:

I find those interesting yet strange since most of the shamans and users of ayahuasca who live in the Columbia Amazon, Venezuela, Ecuador and Brazil always draw images related to the sights of the forest which are trees, Jaguars, Snakes and spirtis of those who live within those environments.

I find it interesting that you seem to live within a mandala in your images of ayahuasca. So completely the opposite of the ayahuascaros paints.

my line work is what i have mainly been working on for the past 5 or so years (when I started to draw 'seriously' ...)

i've been self-teaching, because my art teachers in the past all were nothing but discouraging towards my art ... i just started my first year at Otis College of Art and Design, and I sadly have to say I feel the same way there ...

i guess with my visual art, i just know exactly what I want to see, which is why it tends to come out so 'perfect' ... by forcing myself to draw with only pen for about 2 of the past few years, i have forced myself to make every line as perfect as i can ...

expect more updates on the second ayahuasca picture soon ...

HB and Xibalba: great pictures.i've always had trouble expressing the things that come to me while under the grip of psycahdellics. they're just too different from the things of everyday life i don't know how to approach representing them on paper. any suggestions?

i understand very well how hard it is ...

the difference between a 'still-life' while sober and a vision while on psychedelics is the transience of such visions while tripping, and the constant reanimation of visuals as welll ...  i generally see millions of things that i want to get on paper or on the computer, but realize that isnt realistic, due to my not being a superhuman like xibalba  :wink:

generally, i look for major themes of each trip visually, and if i can't find one, i find one really unique vision and i generally have a good visual memory to remember what is going on in that vision ...

and remember that it should be creative, too, not just an exact representation of your trip  :laugh: the only things i draw from psychedelics are anything that strike me emotionally AS WELL as visually

my motivations for recreating these experiences through visual symbolism are both in the interest spiritual expression and, sometimes, for the purpose of expressing some complex geometric patterns/symbols wich occur to me frequently but i can never quite remember.

i think it makes for a nice challenge/goal to find ways to help yourself remember what you want to remember when sober ...

its like drawing a person, for example ... it is possible to draw a person perfectly without figuring out ways to help keep proportion and such ... though if you do figure out a method that works all the time, then you make it infinitely easier on yourself, while still producing what you want ...
