sorry if this is not an advanced topic, but just out of curiosity, how long can one keep taking his own prints and growing them then printing and growing and o on for? i ask because i was told from the guy i got my spores from that he had been growing them for years and he claims the genetics are getting weak and he needs a fresh start to produce good results again. i have heard of senscene with mycelium but spores sounds like a load of bs to me...they have been around for thousands of years growing this way. again sorry if this is not an advanced topic

That could be because of numerous reasons. Post pictures for proper diagnosis.
Genetics get weak when transfering mycelium(cloning), not by spore printing.

ok guys i think i got a good answer from ff and the problem could have been dieting, this guy grew cakes for years with the same variety taking his own prints and using them. i won't be using the prints anymore but it had me curiuos because out of all the trays i had they all had ugly fruits that never grew very tall and the bulk to forever to colonize(i used cakes for spawn). at first i thought it was just a ms thing or maybe the first flush mutants you see on varietys like ksss or PE but it never stopped. thats when he told me it was basicly inbred too much or something and i had to start fresh, i was confused to say the least but much things make sense now and i apologize for the post guys

Any time you grow in optimal, constant conditions for many generations you can get genetic degeneration. Going to spore is no magic fix for this.
Watch the movie "Idiocracy" for a hypothetical example of this in people.
Any time you make sure that every individual, no matter how retarded, idiotic, weak, physically abnormal, ugly, etc. gets a chance to live long enough to reproduce... you're going to get exactly what you should expect.
You'll end up with a weak, lazy population that can't handle the heat, cold, or any strenuous physical activity.
Understanding the genetic reasons for this are not really all that important, just know that common sense examples apply to some extent or another across everything with DNA, e.g. all life.

I just got some fruits from a contaminated builk left outdoors for 2 months in tough conditions. So in theory according to what you say I should use prints from these fruits rather than the sponsor's original print or the prints I made myself in optimal conditions?

Yes. The selective pressure should have eliminated some of the weaker individuals, and the spores from you and the sponsor have probably had no real pressure on them.
Generally, we're talking about a large number of generations for genetics to degenerate. But the lifecycle is pretty damn short for mushrooms.
Every generation will have a small, cumulative effect. And any given generation can also have a profound effect on the genetics. Degeneration is expected to be gradual, but selective pressure (adverse conditions) can have a profound effect.
Any time you can get your hands on germplasm that has been under selective pressure, do so!
Say that solar wind from a big flare blew away our ozone layer entirely, leaving us with extremely high UV levels... Very quickly blacks would dominate the planet. This would take place in only a few generations.
Your contaminated outdoor bulk grow may well have eliminated a lot of the heat/cold intolerant genetics, and possibly some contamination susceptible genetics (general hardiness might be the main factor in this).
