I see the term Sandose is associated with a lot of different Pans, I am not entirely sure where it comes from or what it signifies. Sandoz?

Absolutely! I have a trip report around here somewhere from the last time I consumed. They put me on my ass, literally and figuratively.

The Macro shots are with a Nikkor Micro 105mm and the wide angle shots are with a Nikkor 10-24mm both DX lenses.

No, the Sandose variety is a Panaeolus cambodginiensis named after a user here, while the tropicalis is a different species in the genus Panaeolus.
