That's cool but limit your consumption or make sure that they didn't used to spray arsenic there.
Arsenic pesticide used to be really common in apple orchards, and the morels accumulate it.
UC Berkeley would be an excellent place to test your morels for arsenic.

I haven't seen any archive that goes years back, only have used inciweb.org which only goes back one year. In my county I used to be able to find maps of areas where they did prescribed burns, but I haven't seen updated maps in couple years though.

I've found that morels dont like orchards or cedar groves or recent burns at all. In fact the best luck I've ever had picking morels was at ten thousand feet on shear rock outcroppings with lots of jagged crevasses and ;ots and lots of snow... Good luck everyone!

I ventured up to the snowline above wrights lake and found a few of the earliest spring fungi popping up. elevation was between 7,000-8,000ft.
Guepiniopsis alpina

Mycena overholtsii

Oligoporus leucospongia

Clitocybe glacialis

It was a little stormy that day, my favorite weather weather for a hike.

Here is what I've found in the past week or two between 4,000-6,000ft.
Gymnopilus sp. on calcedarus decurrens stump.

Amanita aprica

Pluteus species.

Ramaria sanguinea

Morchella snyderi

Agaricus albolutescens

Lyophyllum sp. in a cluster

Ramaria rasilispora fruiting in a line

Sarcodes sanguinea

The Silver Fork of the American River

Heterotextus alpinus
The current name is Guepiniopsis alpina

Pluteus species, probably cervinus group.
I think that one is Pluteus pouzarianus. It's light in color and fruits in the sierras under conifer.

Ramaria Sanguinea
The S in sanguinea should not be capitalized.
I found this species many times in PiPi valley last weekend. I thought it was Ramaria rasilospora at the time, and was very confused by the red staining.
Excellent ID's and photos as always!

Very cool habitat and finds. Not a lot of snowline habitat, sadly.

Yeah it has been a dry year in the mountains, normally I wouldn't be get to this area due to snow still on the roads til at least early June and sometimes even July.
Thank you Alan and Joust for the help with the IDs, I would be still walking around the woods confused as ever if weren't for good teachers like yourselves.
I appreciate the compliments friends, it means a lot coming for such talented photographers as yourselves.

I'm living vicariously through you this week. It's been a couple weeks since I've been on a hunt, I think I'm having withdrawals still.
