trying to minimize risk of cobweb

So i'm thinking that the four holes i've made in my half pint jars are letting in air that probably carries this terrible bastard. Do you think that if I put coffee filters over the tops of these lids just after I inoculate it would help stop this?

Are coffee filter right out o f the box sterile enough? Is there some way I can minimize the risk of contams being on coffee filters when I put them over the lids?

just cover them with tape, they dont need to be open to the air, my FOASF used electrical tape over his jars and they colonize just fine. He is pretty sure that mycellium at that stage needs very very little air.

definitely not true about the not needing O2 exchange... but in most cases it will work ok without air exchange, although if they stall you have a reason why.

read this, thanks to Anno:

I agree that in 95% of situations no air exchange is necessary for a simple PF jar, but there is a post active right now about stalling, and I would say that the cause was lack of air exchange.
