Reference?
And if accurate, what is the proper course of action when inoculating through polyfill?

Stack ten lids on top of each other and drill the four holes through all ten at once.  Use a new or sharp drill bit and don't press hard.  There won't be any burrs.

Take a dremel bit and give the burrs a quick sanding with your drill or dremel, Takes like 2 seconds to knock em off.

Since everyone has their own Burr Removing Tek on here, i'll share mine!

I just flatten them down by pressing the hard plastic side of a screwdriver down on them while also rolling the plastic side back and forth across the burr.  You have to do this on a hard surface as well.

Proper drilling will usually keep ya from ever getting to this point....but it still happens sometimes.

Never wipe your sterile needle with alcohol that is not sterile.

Well alright, guess I'm making more RTV ports and changing my procedure.
I've been doing it that way since '07 . Just never ran across the information.

How about covering the burrs with a bit silicon?
That way there's no chance of any sharp edges inside your jars?

Haven't done this myself, got 10 new jars to make holes in
and this is the best my head has come up with so far.

Any reason not to do it?

I use a drill attachment that appears to be an abrasive stone. Works good on half inch holes. Don't know if they make one that would fit quarter inch.

Do we want to remove the burrs for our own safety, or can the sharp edges
around the holes in the metal lid hurt your grains when shaking the jars?
I know grains can get stuck in larger holes and moisten your filters,
but apart from that, is there any other reasons to consider this an issue?

This is why I'm asking if i could just add silicone around the sharp edges
of the hole on the inside of my jars.

Yes.  I also use a deburring tool if I happen to bungle the drilling process.
