Kill spiders in your house, learn from my mistake. * 4
    #18241788 - 05/10/13 05:18 AM (10 years, 10 months ago)

So I have a huge fear of arachnids, don't know why but they are fucking horrible. Recently though, I have been studying them quite a bit more, in hoping to get rid of my fear. Taranchula's are fascinating arachnids, living up to 25 years in age. Making quite the cool pet.

Well anyways, the other day at about 3AM, I was watching tv, laying in bed, and I notice a spider crawl across my TV screen. I jumped up and turned on the lights quickly and grabbed my slipper. He stopped on the border of my TV and just sat there, before I was going to swat it, I decided to examine it. I got rather close and noticed it looked awfully similar to a brown recluse. (Yay PNW -.-) It definitely was no daddy long-leg because this guy can spin silk. Anyways, I reached for my slipper and when I looked back, he was running away. He dropped down and tried getting him but missed, he went under my TV stand. I decided, you know what, maybe he will do some good if he just chills there.

So just a bit ago I was sitting here looking at centrifuges, and I notice something in the corner of my eye, so I look, and literally about 6" away from my face was that fucking brown recluse dangling on a web. I never fucking ran so fast out of my room in my life. Holy shit. My fear of spiders is 100% still there.

Worse part about this, is I took my slipper and swung at it and hit the ground, but there is no spider remains on the carpet, or on the slipper. The spider, is either dead somewhere, or still crawling around.

Going to sleep tonight is going to be interesting..

:awetermelon:

Spiderbros are awesome!

I had this one spiderbro, named him Marley, he just chilled in my room, in the corner, and ate mosquito's for me. He never payed the rent, but I guess he did make up, cause I never got bitten by a single mosquito with him around. Still, fucker owes me 400 bucks for the last month, don't know where he went unfortunately.

Its funny because of something CRAZY I experienced on acid, my fear of spiders is gone now! The spider you think is a brown recluse, are you sure that's what it is? Because I have had these SCARY looking dark brown to black spiders around where I live, some which I thought were brown recluse, but they turned out to be just scary ass looking spiders! ha! The way to tell its a brown recluse is that they have a violin shaped spot around their head.

Looks like a beautiful bite, mate!

Looks awfully painful. I'm guessing you're living in a relatively dry place

Always had huntsman in my house/room growing up, never bothered me...unless they crawl on me then shit gets real. I got bitten once, it didn't hurt at all which surprised me.

Feel ya dude, we don't have any big spiders around here, the biggest one is probably a Raft spider..

But in Japan.. Dude, it was terrible. HUGE fuckers in houses, onsen toilets and pretty much everywhere! I know they're useful, eating pests etc, but still i hate them. I especially remember this weird looking spider, brownish-gray colored, looked like a hybrid of a crab, a scorpion and a spider, tried to google it but all i could find were some Kite spiders(which look pretty cool btw)

Oh, and not to mention those freakin' huge hornets(Vespa mandarinia japonica) OH GOD
still gettin goosebumps when i think of those

Giant Hornets From Hell

I feel you bro, I live in a far worse region when it comes to spiders than Japan. I love spiders, they're one of my favorite animals, but when I see a huge one, and I see them a lot, I just shit my pants.

What's up with those fluorescent/blue tarantulas btw? pretty psychedelic, but are they just reflecting light like that or what? also i've heard, that the blue ones can be pretty agressive..

Spiders are our friends!
If it was out wandering about, it probably wasn't a brown recluse.

It could be, but brown recluses are typically...well...reclusive.
