i think life is a river

and sometimes it starts taking you towards a waterfall.

that's why it's important not to be lulled into complacency by its gentle waters and drift along in it without paying attention to the way it's flowing. one must be aware of the river, really feel its waters around you.

that way one can realize if it is heading towards a waterfall in time to swim to shore.

be aware, and my your river flow smoothly.

no... once you get on the trail, life is a mountain.

climbing it is optional.

i think it's like this...

first life is a river, but the river ends up turning into a waterfall, and the bottom of the waterfall = death. but if you get out of the river before you hit the waterfall, life then turns into a trail, which leads up a mountain.

yep.

going over the waterfall can seem tempting, especially when compared to climbing a mountain.

but i think making it to the top of the mountain would be much more rewarding.

damn...there goes my theory about life being a murky filthy disgusting swamp...or was that a soft velvety spring medow with wild flowers?

Eh...either way it is neither mountain nor river...damn you RebelSteve33...damn you!

a river seeks the lowest level
the path of least resistance
it settles in, carves its own path
into the soft earth, til it flows faster and faster
narrow whitewater turbulent foam

then it reaches the flats and slows
meandering leisurely flows as it nears the sea
soft ripples caressing the wide banks
mixing with the sea it loses its identity
nearing the end the river is consumed
gravity, time, the flow is immutable

Ahh... but if you are truly going with the flow, you are the same as the water, and the waterfall can't do you any damage, it can only take you on a wild ride... Water never is lost, it never disappears, it is always going through the infinite cycles.. I don't think it matters if the stream is going fast or slow, if it is just a little creek or a river or an ocean.. it doesn't matter to the water. See what I mean?
Peace.

That's why I navigate it with a power boat, always wear a life-vest, keep my fishing license current (no pun intended) and keep a constant lookout for hotties playing topless in the water. I love the river, party on!
