humidity question
    #1820265 - 08/16/03 03:37 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

so i'm ready to fruit some cakes. i live in a very dry enviro, and my question is whether i should use wet perlite in my terrarium or just put the cakes in straight. also, i've been out of town for 3 weeks (costa rica was awesome!), so these cakes have been chillin in the fridge for some time. should i just uncover them and put them into the terrarium, or should i go for another dunk?

Yes, you better use wet perlite... Cakes need a higher humidity then casings @ all timez... Since u live in a dry enviro. and let them in the fridge for some time , dunking is a good idea too....

you'll need some sort of humidity source,if you have perlite use it.humidity should around 95%-100% when fruiting cakes, also i would dunk them or you can just dunk them after the first flush.good luck!

casing ok well humidity can be lower but anything over 80% should be good

I live in a very dry enviro and didn?t need perlite for casings. Just make sure the casing contains the amount of water needed to fruit and you?ll just need to mist (very fine mist) a little everytime you fan to bring humidity up again. At least is what is working for me right now.

If you can get hold of geolite (hydroleca) from a hyrdroponics or gardening store,  use it instead of perlite, I just started using it and that shit is the shit
