afoaf got a little overzealous watering his cased & already pinning project last night (water was apparently beading up in tiny little drops on the surface of the casing and mycelium) and recently discovered light bluish areas appearing on a small area of the mycelium. it doesn't seem to be spreading and after i advised him to not mist it so damn much the bluish hue _seems_ to be going away, he says, although this could just be wishful thinking.
it sounds to me like the mycelium is just bruised or something and will recover. how can we tell if it's drowned/been overwatered? could it ever recover? if this is a contamination, how quickly would it be spreading?
any precautions need to be taken in either of the 3 cases (ie bruised, drowned/over-watered, contaminated)?
he's taking care of this like it's his damn baby after finally getting pins and doesn't want to lose his hard work!
