I always wear Tool shirts, but I'm not a 'rocker' or metalhead. I really mostly listen to techno. I think Tool's message overpowers the fact that I'm a walking billboard. I would never wear any other band shirt or product-promoting shirt because it's sickening.

I used to look like a 'kid' when I wore big-ass pants and bleached my hair (just the front part of my hair, not all of it). Now I need a job and I wear normal pants and dorky glasses (they make me look smart). My old boss used to think I was a hooligan or a criminal of some sort. He would probably think I was a totally different person now.

Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

Myself (including my Tool shirt that I have), I wear music t-shirts because music is what I identify most with, and that I would prefer wearing my favourite bands' t-shirts than any other kind of "normal" t-shirt. I don't wear my t-shirts to promote the prouduct, but rather because I like the bands, I like the t-shirts, and why not? I don't think that it is sickening...

BEAUTIFUL!!!

I have been thinking about the same thing lately.

But what about the duality of the skeptics in this forum?

what about the duality of skeptics in this forum? There are only a few I'd label as skeptics.

Labeling someone as a skeptic is just way too big of a generalization to accurately portray anyone, especially considering that not a lot of people post reguarily here at the S and P, most everyone here recoginizes the other members...

I mean, we have people who instantly believe whatever comes into their head, we have people that are a little more out there but still have at least one foot in reality (I'd consider myself one of them), people that only seek objective truth, people who only seek subjective truth, both, people who challenge the ideas of those who are a little subjective and not so grounded, those who challenge the ideas and thoughts of those who are a little too grounded (I consider myself one of them, too), people who etc, etc, etc...

If we are observing people in this forum, using a term such as "skeptics" probably shouldn't come up...
Peace.

If your skepticism is dead, then so are you.

But who can say if that's a bad thing?

I feel like said "dronebot"

It's unfortunate. I don't like being like that, but I come across a new idea or .. theory, and it becomes a romance. I'm infatuated, like you said. I think I have an understanding, but I'd have difficulty explaining it to another person without using the original speakers words.

I'm not sure how or why I do it - I'm not sure how to stop.. I guess I've been making attempts. I don't know.

I feel as if no thought in my head is my own. I don't know where I really stand on issues. I have friends who know alot about politics, or religion. I don't really know much about either, and have no idea where to start.. but I'm not very interested in that sort of thing. I'm interested in writing.. I've been getting very interested in philosophy. I read, I take notes. .

Not sure what I'm saying here.
But now I feel like shit.
Bleagh.

I become more impassioned with the idea of action than the actual action itself.

This electronic box sucks out my motivation, my inspiration, my aspiration.

I feel useless and lost.

Empty, sometimes.
With intense desire to be filled - but the lack of drive to reach for the pitcher.

So this long diatribe of Dogomush illustrates with failing subtlty and grace that some people philosophize and seek spiritual lives because they feel weak, or lost, directionless. Because of these feelings it is attempted to grasp a certain philsophical standpoint in an effort to acquire a sort of identity, a reference point for understanding the self.

What precisely did you expect? This is a website dedicated to the use of drugs. What is it that attracts people to the use of drugs? Often responsilbe are feelings of weakness, of wandering. The user base of the Shroomery primarily consists of young people, aged 14-24. At what time in your life have you ever felt the most confused, adrift?

Why then do you sit in your chariot dishing out this longwinded assessment of the "quality" of some of those discussing ideas here? Certainly the reality that some people are attracted to these things for the unfortunate reasons mentioned does not denigrate the importance of psychedelic ideology and the philosophical banters thereof.

This is a place for sharing ideas, for aiding our peers in their growth, their progress, while simultaneously as a community moving toward our awakening to ourselves, or whatever mystical plain we may seek.

Instead of embarassing the people who fit your desciption, why not lift them up?

What precisely did you expect?

So, you agree with what I said, but you think I shouldn't point it out? What would you expect me to do? Sit around and not point some things out? Aren't we here to do this:

"This is a place for sharing ideas"

and that's what I'm doing.

"for aiding our peers in their growth, their progress"

and so what, I should just sit back and let people wallow in meaninglessness for the rest of their lives on the shroomery? No, I think I should aid our peers in their growth, their progress, by pointing a few things out.

"Instead of embarassing the people who fit your desciption, why not lift them up?"

So.. what, I should just be like "yay you guys are great!" that's ridiculous. I refuse to participate in protecting people from the world (myself in this case) when they don't have to come onto the internet and engage in a terrifying assesment of their understanding of reality. They should sit at home with their mommas and never go out in the world. If somebody can't handle me telling them that maybe, just maybe they don't understand the shit their spouting at all, and they can't cope with the idea that maybe they aren't enlightened, well... that's none of my business. If they're that fragile they shouldn't be doing drugs that's for sure.

Malachi, I'm onto you. I used to think that you were an ignorant racist fool, but now I see it's all a little game of yours. Well, you had me fooled until you started asking other people where the love is.

Dogomush, your reasons are noble... and the people here definitely don't need to be sheltered from anything. Most of us are beyond that...

I'm listening to the Wall right now, and I'm thinking that sheltering him made his entire life suck.. we don't need it. Thanks a lot, Mom. hehe
