Appears it could be a landslide with the current energy blackout in the US. Coincidence?
Sweeping changes to enviro laws and vilification of enviromentalists as the cause of the power failure. Much like doing pot makes one a terrorist. Food for thought.

Here's some more food for thought --
"Tens of millions Americans got a wakeup call Thursday: cheap, accessible energy isn't something to take for granted.
"Unfortunately, many of America's most powerful environmental organizations do take energy for granted, and they are trying to set America on a course that, if unchecked, could make the future very dark indeed.
"These environmentalist groups hate energy. They don't put it so starkly, but a review of their policies can lead to no other conclusion."

How nice of the author to lump all people who want to protect the environment together and make gross generalizations that are only true of a select few.

The "sweeping generalization" fallacy. Rush Limbaugh is notorious for combining that with the "straw man" fallacy to misrepresent liberals.

We need to switch to nuclear power. It is very safe these days, and the polluntants from a nuclear power plant are minimal.

I don't know what the fuck they're talking about; most 'environmentalists', such as myself, would like to see a transition to solar and wind generated forms of energy, I don't know what that has to do with a blackout. Carbon based fuels are finite, and perpetual forms of energy should be explored on a broad scale; eventually they'll have to be anyway, so why not get seriously started, right?

I think solar is ultimately the way to go; it's really just a matter of putting some serious money into research so that it's not as limited as it is presently. Presumably civilizations more advanced than ours have discovered a means to harness the power of their own star, so there's a way that's just got be found.

If wind and solar could provide with all our energy then all our problems would be solved... but they don't. There is no perpetual form of energy. Energy in = energy out. Until we find a way to break the laws of physics, then nuclear energy is the best option.
