I bought a copy of this from my mate two weeks ago for $15. Wasn't really as detailed as I was expecting and it seems to be missing quite a lot of mushrooms, but it does have lots of good picture and some good information.
I am looking for a book that includes good habitat descriptions as well as pictures. Any suggestions?

You would be hard pressed to find that in one book.
If you use the Fuhrer in combination with AM Youngs book you should be good.
I have found Fuhrer's book pretty good. It may be general but most people dont want a full descriptive, or key based text, its got good info and good enough to be able to carry in your backpack. imagine trying to carry Arora's Mushrooms Demystified in you pack when you go walking, lol.
The pics in AM Young's book are all illustrations, except for the central plates (which are good pics), but the descriptions are very good, and i suspect what you are looking for.
Cheers, Ob.

Maybe what I'm looking for is a book on how to ID mushrooms to genus.
I'm sure quite a lot of the mushrooms I find are in Bruce Fuhrer's book, it's just that I don't know what genus I should be looking under to identify them.

Yes, this thread is worth bumping, esp this time of year
There are books on how to identify to Genus with keys and great descriptions. (I must have missed the last post or forgotten to reply )
The guides printerd by Mad River Press Inc. may what you are looking for:
How to Identify Mushrooms to Genus I: Macroscopic Features - by David Largent
How to Identify Mushrooms to Genus II: Field Identification of Genera - by David Largent and Harry Thiers
How to Identify Mushrooms to Genus III: Microscopic Features - by David Largent, David Johnson and Roy Watling
How to Identify Mushrooms to Genus IV: Keys to Families and Genera - by Daniel Stuntz
How to Identify Mushrooms to Genus V: Cultural and Developmental Features - by Roy Watling
How to Identify Mushrooms to Genus VI: Modern Genera - by David Largent and Timothy Baroni
Not part of the Series but also very interesting Reading is:
A Literature Guide for Identifying Mushrooms - by Roy and Ann Watling
They are amazing books and well worth having as part of your collection. Individually they are light enough to have in your pack.
Cheers, Ob.

Bruce Fuhrers is good, it seems to be a common one and is fairly comprehensive.
