Whats the best WBS recipe
    #1816989 - 08/15/03 02:54 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

I'm getting ready to inoculate some WBS and was wondering what some of the best recipes are for jar prep? Any other input about WBS would be great!!

6t's is very easy and I've had great results. It seems to be the most popular.

Thats the tek I'm most likely to follow, I just wanted to get some other views on WBS.

I suggest 6ts. Very consistent results for me.

for you folks that use 6t's tek- pay attention to the moisture content after you soak. check out the texture, examine the the wbs. Give it a good rinse too.

for my foaf, he finds 24-soaking to be somewhat of a pain b/c he's never sure when he's going to pressure cook the wbs. Instead of a 24-soak, he simmers over the stove in a pot of water and acheives proper moisture that way.

With a little trial and error, your foaf will be stocked on spawn in no time (esp w/ g2g). Do up a practice batch even, cook the shit til its completely expanded to get a idea of your wbs's moisture capacity since none of them are really the exact same. Also, you can do up different jars (appropriately marked) that all have been simmered for different durations. Upon viewing your results (assuming you get no contams) you can pinpoint the optimum.
