Haricot (Navy) Beanz as grain....... *pics*

I don't know if it's something known but i tried and seem to have a great success using Haricot Beans... (i translated that using Babylon so i'm not sure about the exact name... We call 'em dry beans here. And it said "Dermason Beans" on the package) Here is a pic of the difference between boiled and non-boiled grains;
Pressure cooked for 70 min. and innoculated with (approximately) 3cc 's of live culture... (Honey TEK) I have an unlabeled Honey TEK jar and i innoculated them with that culture so i'm not sure on the strain..... (Possibly Panama or Huautla though...) Here is a pic after 3 days from innoculation;
(the blurry view is because of the calcium carbonate stuck on the sides of the jar)
Sorry if this is some usual knowledge (just wanted to share and get feedback) and any fedback is appreciated......

Sweet! Never seen beans used as a substrate before. Let us know how the grow goes.

They are called dry beans here (cause they are dry as stone... )...... Or Dermason Beans, but it's not a common usage......

Try that one.... tastes goood!.... And is there any feedback i can get from an expert like you?...... I was planning to use chickpea (garbanzo bean,dwarf pea... these are also translated using Babylon) next time... They are also cooked the same way and considered as "grain" here.... I believe they have similar nutrients and may work. They also have abbility to suck (during the boiling process) and carry a great amount of water. They also have thick walls, which make them not preferable for contaminants. And there are lots of ethnic types of grain here. For example; there are 5 different types of white millet where i buy my grains. And i used 4 of them with great success.... What would your advice be in this situation?.... Help me...please....i....i am....i am....why is it too dark here.... i'm cold.....HHEEELLLLPPP!....

Interesting. Do you have any pictures of mushrooms fruiting on the beans?
How was potency? Beans have less Tryptophan than grains.

I used Garbonzo Beans once and they worked just as well as any grain I ever saw.
BTW Garbonzo Bean = Chick Pea
Good luck with the navy beans. I wonder how they would do straight out of a can?

They are sold in Kg.s here just like any other grain (and dry as shit) ... I've no idea about using canned ones... 1 Kg. is around 1 $ here. And there are no uncooked canned ones here... The canned ones are cooked and ready to be consumed... I don't think they would do good with all the additional stuff and preservatives in them....

Hmmm, I just bought a couple cans of low sodium Garbanzo beans (59 cents for 15 oz) after reading about the Hominy experiments. Your experience gives me hope for my experiment.

just a trivial point but technically beans are not considered to be "grains". they are members of the 'legume' family, which includes many kinds of beans and peas. fruiting will prove interesting. canned navy beans may work, canned hominy is coming along nicely.

i tried to mean that i buy them from a shop which only sells various grain types. People here call them grain in native language.... And i cased them with 50/50 today... Normaly i would use it as spawn but just to see what happens, i cased them with peat moss & verm... Incubating now... I'll post some pics but i think this thread doesn't belong here any more... If a Mod. can move this to Grow Log forum ...... It seems to become one........
