Will be performing some casings on oyster mushrooms soon and I have yet to put something together to humidify my fruiting chambers.
What do people use to humidify their casings?
I'm stuck between nothing but a bowl of water/perlite and a fanning twice a day with a little misting after... or....
the automated fishtank air-pump that bubbling into a bowl of perlite / water.
i know the RH has to be around 80-85% for casings so...

Nothing. till after the first flush; assuming of course, that the casing layer has sufficient moisture.
Perlite will do, nothing fancy.

Nothing. Not even after 6 flushes. Just mist the casing layer, then the recased casing layer. Keep it moist, thats about it.

i have many rubbermaid tubbs at my disposal so i can build anything i want.
given the fact that the casing layer (straight verm) is moist, i could put it into a chamber with no means of humidiy?
I think I will spray the insides of the walls in the chamber prior to placing casing in.
Can I get some peoples opinions on wether to go AUTOMATIC with a fish pump or the typical FAN 2x a day?

Go to http://www.nansnook.com/index2.htm when you are there go to archives, then casings and finally to water delivery to casings. I think it?s a free masterclass on watering casings
Hope it helps you, amigo
P.D: Read everything, from top to bottom (print it, and study it)

I would recommend a full terrarium casing. Meaning, use a rubbermaid and fill will substrate and casing. Then, just keep the lid on and mist the casing, lightly, maybe once a day or so. The water that evaporates from the casing will be enough humidity in the terrarium. That is of course of your using the whole rubbermaid as your tray. Just be sure to replace moisture to your casing, but don't overdo it.

casings don't really need extra humidification in alot of regions.. im in such a region and so just use casings
and uhhm, if youre really growing oysters, a casing is useless

That, by far, is some of the best information ever seen. That one section turned a frustrated PF cake grower I know into a very, very (very!?) happy cased straw grower. He's never been quite the same. That should be required reading before anyone is allowed to post a question containg the word 'casing.'
Be well,
'rook
