Ninja blenders are awesome for grinding dried mushrooms! I love mine.
I wish I could get everclear up here in Canada.

Yeah, I am definitely considering making a still. The highest percentage I can get is 40%.

Nice write up! Sounds like you did your research, got the ratios down perfect and everything.  When you mixed the two at the end, did they go from clear to cloudy and stay that way?
Oh, and 3/4lb dry wild harvested reishi? I'm fucking jealous! They're not growing here yet so I've had to wait and watch for months to get a couple ounces growing my own. I hope I have as mush luck as you when foraging time comes...

I did almost the same as you but I used 100 proof vodka mixed at a 1:1 ratio with the boiled part (to reach the exact same 25%abv). That's awesome, I'm doing the same thing. Actually I hope to forage most of them. Whats the dosage from such an extract? How do you take it? and how often? Do you notice the effects?

On page 129 of Marley's "Mushrooms for Health" he writes:"I advocate the use of mixed mushroom tinctures for diverse, broad immune stimulation. I recommend that individual mushroom tinctures be made separately and blended together." . . . "I take two full droppers (1/2 teaspoon) most mornings in a cup of hot water."

Great write up. We made almost a gallon of reishi tincture in the same manner. 2 month alcohol soak in vodka, 3-10 hour water extractions. Then simmered it down.
Love the fact that wild reishi is in massive quantity around us. We were lucky enough to harvest 5 lbs in one day last fall.
Oh and who ever mentioned reishi and drought, this stuff thrives here in utah. I would suspect you will see a good reishi crop if rains have come heavily.

Perhaps im silly, but why do you want to make an extract, when you can just put the pulverized powder in capsules?

The extraction process allows our bodies to more readily digest and use the beneficial properties of mushrooms. When you consume raw, powered mushrooms you are not getting all the benefits.
