question about the one-way Mars expedition
    #18157710 - 04/23/13 08:48 PM (10 years, 11 months ago)

So I guess nasa is recruiting candidates to be the first people to visit and live on mars, without coming back to earth. Just a one way trip.

So my question before submitting my video application is if you're allowed to bring large amounts of lsd and marijuana with you? Theyre not illegal on mars right? What could nasa say?

It would cost NASA $20,000 per pound.

definitely not weed, can't be smoking on a space ship. but I don't see why lsd would be a problem, except that they would probably want to limit the variables. And a lifetime supply of lsd is on hell of a variable.

Nah dude, establishing life on a new planet which doesn't foster a native environment conducive to human life is a total breeze.

It's illegal in the states which is where you'll be taking off from so no, but I'm sure you could bring a rather large amount of LSD with you undetected, but marijuana I doubt it? Maybe if you pack it in your ass, but I doubt you could get that much up there, just bring some seeds and start growing on mars.

Applying to be an astronaut goes through USAjobs.  There are no current openings and they don't do video applications (at least initially).  I'm set to receive alerts when a position is posted.

Before anyone runs off to Mars, they better read Martian Time Slip by Philip K. Dick.

this is what I dont understand..  How do they expect to do this with the atmosphere of mars and no magnetic field to stop the radiation.  The astronauts who get there will probably die within a year from radiation poisoning.. or way sooner if a solar flare occurs while their on their way to mars.

I bet Mars has some crazy red dust you can sniff in exchange... No need for any imports.

just convince your boss that 'hemp' will be an ideal candidate for the hydroponic gardens, and that it is a multi-use plant with amazing properties--then just bring along a couple seeds of your own strains

as for lsd, convert to whatever religion has the largest amounts of holy books--proceed to print up your own 'special' copy of these books and convince your boss that they are a necessity for you to bring

no, i don't think about this often
