Best Beer To Get In a Keg?

I'm throwing a party and I need to get a keg. I don't drink beer and have no idea what is good or bad. I'm looking for a light beer and price doesn't really matter. I just want something people will really like.
Whats your favorite beer to put in a keg?

Well.....I only drink good beer AKA craft beer. Not many people enjoy craft though. If you are going for something universal, Bud Light seems to be it.

You want quality beer in a keg?
Can't help you there.
Only kegs I've bought were for frat parties. Miller high life and Icehouse.
Most alcohol for the $

Does keg beer taste bad? I was thinking of getting a keg of Sam Adams or New Castle. Maybe I should just get bottles but I will need around 70 bottles. I don't even know how much beer costs.

No beer from a keg doesn't taste bad at all.
where I'm from Sam Adams cost 14 dollars for a 12 pack. So that would cost me 84 dollars for 72 beers.

Sounds like a half barrel will be over kill for that many beers. Were you going for a quarter or sixth barrel?

Sam Adams Boston Lager would be a good universal choice that everyone should enjoy. Keg prices will vary. It will seem really expensive because you got to pay a deposit on the keg. If you return the keg, you get the deposit back. Be sure to grab a tapper too.

Eh I know some people who hate the taste of Sam Adams. They say its "too strong".
IMHO I think a beer good for parties is Miller high Life or Coors.
Also OP check out Bevmo! for keg rentals.

If you only need about 70 beers I wouldn't get a keg.
Just a half dozen twelve packs.
That way you can get a variety, something for everyone.
No worries about keg deposits and taps.
No rush to finish off the keg.
probably cost you $80.
keg would be cheaper but more trouble.

My thoughts as well...I love me some real beer with flavor, craft beers & what not. While I find Boston lager to be decent, like Deadkndys420 mentioned, I know plenty of people that consider the flavor too strong & bitter. (Yea, I know )
If it's just party beer...where getting a buzz is is the plan and no one is drinking to savour the flavor & aroma. I concur with something like classic coors, or some good ol' PBR.
When I'm not drinking a good beer, my go to choice for cheap light watery beer is PBR .
And yea....Beefy has a good point & idea.

I myself love any kind of Sam Adams, Boston Lager is great, but like LySergic D said, most people do agree with Bud Light.
Sad really, but if they want something different they will probably bring it with them, I would!

Its going to be for a wedding and I was planning on getting a quarter barrel. I think you guys talked me in to getting bottles and I'll probably get around 90 bottles of like 3 different beers. It will be more classy that way too. Now to figure out what 3 beers to get...

Keg beer is way better than bottled beer, it goes down like water. There is also less mess to clean up and less likely to find a broken bottle (glass on the floor sucks) Plus, you can't do a bottle-stand!
Almost anything will work, I know a couple people who only get Keystone Light or Bud Light in their kegs. But you make a point that different beers throughout the night can be fun as you taste the complex differences of each one. I'd still go with Keg (although with bottles you can tell a little easier when you are close to running out and then go on a beer run)
Ah decisions, decisions....

From a vet party'er I recommend Bud Light. Reasons being....
Bud light is universal, easy to drink, kegs dont cost much, and nobody really complains.
Bud light is universal in the fact it's like a marlboro light, even those who occasionally smoke, they will smoke a marlboro light. Same with drinking this beer
Alcohol content is not too high. Takes a bit for people to get wasted which is nice, because no early party fights, drama, or bullshit.
