Remaining Positive

I'm trying to stay positive. I'm feeling a bit buried under graduate studies and the stress is starting to have a profound effect. I generally don't have free time. Whenever I find myself doing something that is not grad school related I worry constantly. If I fail I will blame myself for all the times that I got lazy and didn't use my time as productively as possible. I even feel guilty right now typing this on the Shroomery when I could be working on a lengthy homework assignment that's due Tuesday, or I could be studying for a standardized test that is happening in a week that I want/need to do well on.
Equipment in the lab is failing and I have to deal with it because by the end of the summer I have to have my thesis completed. I CAN'T DO MY RESEARCH IF THE FUCKING MACHINES AREN'T CONTROLLING THE FUCKING TEMPERATURE AND THE FUCKING SYSTEM IS LEAKING SOMEWHERE GOD DAMNIT. AND THE FUCKING WATER KEEPS GETTING TURNED OFF WHICH CAUSES ALL THE WATER COOLED COMPRESSORS AND VACUUM PUMPS TO FUCKING OVERHEAT WHICH FURTHER DELAYS THE GOD DAMN EXPERIMENTS. I SWEAR TO GOD IF THEY DON'T CALL US THE NEXT TIME THEY DECIDE TO TURN OFF THE FUCKING WATER FOR REPAIRS I'M GOING TO STAB MY FOOT.
This actually helped much. Time to study k bye

Try to squeeze in some sexy time to unwind every now and then, or something of the sort. Go fishing an hour a week or something, to completely break off from the stress. Bird watching. Flying kites.
What good is grad school and getting a job you will come to hate, because you've made all the wrong associations with that lab environment, by being all stressed and burned out in it all the time?
Plan better where possible, and chill where not. Hope your water cooled equipment stays funky fresh and runs like

Usually when I want to destress I just go jog until my chest starts pulsating with pain at every heartbeat.

Ya but you might have noticed it's a completely different kind of destress than some good ol'

Think back and compare a few instances.

If that will make you feel any better I got kicked out of grad school for drugs. Now I have no job, no money, soon about to be homeless and most important of all I can forget about a scientific career (which has been the focus of my life since I was about 6). Damn OP I WISH I had your problems of machinery not operating as it should be. That would be a dream come true (again). I wish I had the stress from too much work, having no free time and typing on the shroomery when I have to hand in lengthy homework. I seriously feel like my life has become a meaningless mess and I feel so low I could top myself right now
