I bet TL is using more expensive thicker diameter bags. The cheaper thinnest bags prevent side pins the best.

I used a clear cheap bag & a black trash bag for leaves. Neither proved successful on stopping my side pins. Now, I rarely get side pins w/out a liner.

it was doc_t who proved that side pinning is a light thing (at least in some genetic substrains)

TranscendingLife said: I've used a liner a few times. Still got just as many side pins. The most beneficial part of a liner, that I've found, is ease of cleaning & disposal of the substrate once spent.
I have this problem sometimes. The humidity in the tub causes water to condense on the tub which causes the liner to stick to the tub. Then when the sub shrinks the liner usually just pulls away enough to cause side pins. When I used BW on top to help the tub colonize there was no condensation on the tub and this worked wonderfully.
Perhaps a bubble wrap "wedge" between the tub and the liner would help everything out. Will try this.

Are we talking about side pins here?! Found these guys this morning hiding. And this is with a very skinny/cheap black but still translucent garbage bag. They are on all sides, but this is the most dense area.
