How do I change my default media player in XP? Everytime I click on a soundfile or want to play downloaded music this crappy ass musicmatch player pops up along with all its ads to buy its full version, Id rather use windows media player or winamp but I don't know how to get them to be my default..
On XP, click Start->Set Program Access and Defaults (assuming you have patched your install) or if it isn't there, go to Start->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs
Make sure you have selected the "Set Program Access and Defaults" tab on the left hand side at the bottom of the screen.
Then expand the highlighted dropdown on the right (mine is custom) by clicking on the two down arrows... you will get a list of all the different programs for web browsing, email, etc... on the "choose my default media player" select the one you want and click ok
